Trump has declared nursing is not a profession and thus exempt from student loans. I totally disagree with Trump on this one. My wife was a RN now retired. Nurses are the second line in health care sure doctors diagnose but if you are in the hospital nurses are there 24/7 not doctors. I can't tell you how many times my wife caught doctors prescribing meds that would have killed patients due to drug interactions. We have a nurse shortage this will only add to it. Now a theology degree Trump considers a profession deserving of a loan ---sorry I disagree

This is totally stupid, and he needs to reverse himself on this comment. Furthermore, it's been a profession since the beginning of time. I go to a NP not a doctor. Why? Why the hell do you think! We don't have enough doctors in North Idaho and for general care a NP is just as good, sometimes better because they also have to have experience, lots of it. If the stupid 'non-professional' government got off their ass and changed the student loan program to fund ONLY truly professional professions, like nursing, maybe we have more scientists, mathematicians, doctors and nurses, instead of professional basket weavers or African dancers. Frankly, I think doctors and nurses should be given a full free ride but have to work a specific time at a specific location to pay off the loan and if you can't make the grades then you have to repay the loan. This is what the military does, and it works well. He has said some dumb things of late, the H1B visas is another thing I don't agree with him on, but this is the most idiotic thing I have ever heard him say. Did he really say this? Where did you see this? EDIT: Trump is his own worst enemy. Now, this doesn't mean I don't think he's not the greatest President in my lifetime just that I don't agree with him all the time. I also don't agree with him slamming MTG so damn hard either. She has a good heart, and we lost someone that truly puts America First which helps the Left, the enemy, not us. Well, LilMissVT is in the middle of applying to PA (Physician Assistant) School. And no loans for that is kinda a trainwreck. Hoping this is another of those off the cuff decisions that get rolled back. Also, considering I've only seen PA's for the past 10 years, and only the MD 1 time. Yeah, This is one of those stupid things that he says.
This deals with loans made for Masters and PhD levels courses. This will affect NP programs, and a few PhD programs. For RN or LPN, zero impact. SO I agree with Trump - I'd rather he focus on fraud in the loan program and diploma mills - it would have greater impact.
