    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

The sauna seems to be making a big impact. I've lost 7 pounds this week of my squishy belly fat that showed up within the last couple of months. It's obviously where it is coming from.

I've started some light weight training, mostly to stress the range of motion work. Right shoulder is quiet without weight, with 10 pounds it screeches and makes grinding noise like forcing open a rusty and sprung door.

I bought a barrel sauna with a wood stove. It’s amazing. I’ve taken 2 15 minute sessions daily since the end of November, sometimes with a cold plunge in between sessions.
With the weather up here, the plunge would be an ice cube, so that will have to wait a few weeks until we get above freezing.

Some days I sweat like a pig, others I cruise through without an issue.

I have a big mass of scar tissue in my left cheek and that sucker feels like sitting on a cue ball after 30 minutes. Before the hour is up, it feels like a bayonet.

That sounds like awesome progress! I love sitting in the sauna and belly fat / the hip area is where I would like to make some progress too. It's great that you're doing some strength training and rehab work. I tore my rotator cuff long ago. It's worth-it to always listen to your body even if it means progressing slowly.

I'm sold on the sauna thing. This sounds amazing and like such a healing routine. Where did you get your barrel sauna from? I think I want to buy or build one on the new property. I admire you for doing cold plunges too!
Hope you're having a wonderful new year!

appy New Year to you as well!
Been doing low-carb since Lent started last year and daily treadmill 3 miles before work as well. Down about 55 so far. Progress has slowed, but that’s OK, I feel pretty dang good!

I'm back at it, well trying. Watching what I eat and avoiding alcohol and carbs. I was checking my blood sugar regularly with my keto-mojo monitor, this does both sugar and keytones. I was seeing always high blood sugar, like 140+ even when fasting. This was right after the holidays when I was drinking a lot and eating high carb food. I started using the Stelo CGM (continuous glucose monitor) this week. I'm seeing that it's reading 10-20 points higher than my finger stick readings. I know they will not match or generally shouldn't match, but it's a bit concerning that my blood sugar stays so high.
walking 20-30 minutes a day to start getting back into a routine. Doing some body weight exercises (squats, dips, pushups, etc).
not really tracking my weight this time, more "how do i feel". Pain in my knees has already gone away, slowly feeling better in general.

I also added a Master’s degree…took me five years but finally done! Wasn’t the oldest graduate, but close. My previous degrees were before the internet was a widespread thing. Those transcripts are on paper, and probably had to be looked up on microfiche.

Congrats on completing the Masters! I got my bachelor in 2018, getting a Masters has never been in the picture for me, I just don't see the value in it for my IT position. Gotta say, even bachelor's has not been much of a help.

Thank you for sharing this link. I really like their website and hope that they can deliver here. Starting low carb around Lent is such a good Lenten promise and I admire you for sticking with it all this time. -55 is huge! Congratulations on your amazing progress. 3 daily miles before work is also admirable I hope you feel great from all of these lifestyle changes that you've made.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! A Master's degree at any age is a huge accomplishment and something to be proud of. What did you study?
I've been thinking of pursuing a graduate degree, but not sure what I would study yet.

Congrats on the Masters! That's quite the accomplishment! Associates in Biology, almost finished a Bachelors in Nuke power and Tech but got out of the industry and made finishing irrelevant.

I frigging hated the liberal leaning classes I had to take when I was younger. I'm a history and science guy.

"Stick to the facts, ma'am" was/is my mantra. I'm just old enough now to see that the world is wider than I thought.

Really? That's so awesome and so up to date.
I'm very interested in Data Science: Language Processing and Machine Learning and have been thinking of diving deeper into this field. My undergrad was in Computer Science and alternative housing construction.

I got a heavy bag hung up yesterday and did a lot of slow and form focused strikes.

Wow, my shoulders are sore today. In a good way.

I've been doing my > 22,000 steps everyday and daily dancing, but this week I need / want to make it a point to do strength training at least 3 times.
I will admit that we had steak pho 3 days in a row, but I did give most of my noodles to my chicken flock.
