Hey everyone, I’ve been part of the prepping world for a while now and recently came across some gear that surprised me with how simple but effective it is — like motion sensors that don’t need Wi-Fi, blackout-proof floodlights, and old-school tripwires that alert you if someone steps on your perimeter. I started testing a full kit that includes these kinds of tools — designed for folks who want something low-tech but reliable during grid-down scenarios or even just when you're away from home. It also comes with a guide on tactics used by intelligence operatives. Would it be okay to share more details or a link here? Only if it’s within the rules — not trying to spam, just thought others might find it helpful. Curious what you all think about this kind of gear — gimmick or good backup?
"Would it be okay to share more details or a link here?" I am not a Moderator, but I don't see why not. I mean, you are reviewing and explaining these new devices, yes? We here are always on the lookout for new and better gear. The Mods here are strong but very fair and will tell you, privately, if you go outside the boundaries. So, have at it! I'm interested if you found something I missed and...what the heck is a 'blackout-proof floodlight'? It sounds like a contradiction. Having said that, have you been a member or just joined? If the latter than please start a post introducing yourself, saying just a few words about yourself. I mean, if you are here just to sell stuff - well - you'll probably get shot down rather quickly but if you're here to learn and share your knowledge and experiences, you'll find a warm and big welcome.
Wired systems not using electronics is fundamental (simple). Simple relays and buzzers are easy to set up, primarily so that if the wire is broken the relay drops out and connects your alarm device , and it continues to alert till the circuit is repaired and reset. Individual wires are dispersed around the perimeter, so you know immediately where the brake has occurred. Photo electric cells are subject to EMP and CME being electronic, but until then they should function pretty good, the same with cameras. Ideally , learn what burns during the EMP and have spare parts to make needed repairs, no one will expect these things to be working when every one else's equipment is burnt.
@batool787 Let's see what you've got. Thanks for asking, and feel free to stick around and take part in our discussions.
I made a bunch of simple battery op trip alarms - two piece door/window alarms that squawk like hell when the magnet joined pieces are separated - mounted the main piece on a plastic landscape stake and an eyehook on the other - fishline for the tripline - camo painted everything >>> long term placement possible .....
Made some noise makers, 12 gauge blank and a simple trigger. put one on the door to my green house with a simple dis connect. Forgot about it early one morning in winter. Still dark out. Yep, it worked perfectly and scared the bejeasus out of me and brought the wife and dog out of the house. Decided nothing in greenhouse worth going thru that again before TSTF. In that fraction of a second, I didn't go thru the process of ignoring it as I knew what it was. Simple very loud noise makers can be very effective and it was totally a safe item, not convertible to a destructive device. Found out that a few layers of card board will contain the shell until the pressure builds up to a good sized bang. Like the hard outer layer of the old M 80 fire crackers. Note to anyone trying it. A 12 gauge is way over the top in powder needed. Had some reloads that didn't crimp right, opened them up, took out shot and replaced with corn meal and made some noise makers. Not much noise in open, but if contained in wood or card board, very loud.
You do not need advanced technology to set up a good home defense system. This is the truth. I am kinda curious what the OP wanted to share though.
Not caltrops (yet ), but this off-grid kit has tripwires, motion sensors, and other no-power security tools
Appreciate it! Here's the gear I mentionedAnti-Looter Kit I first saw this kit on facebook and then read about it on a website.
b Blackout proof floodlight means this light can operate even during a power outrage.I was trying to understand this forum ,its a bit complicated for me on how to post etc here.
I have actually used a 'fake' camera on my residence overseas as I waited to get the gear to install a real one. As an American, in that part of the world, I was targeted basically for thief constantly, thinking I was wealthy. It worked. Honestly, it worked! I also put a sign up saying the residence was under camera surveillance. People were constantly asking me about it and the word spread. I would say it was, "...motion sensor activated and recorded" and my fake camera had a red light that blinked on and off. We never had any other problems our entire time there. It worked so well that I didn't get around to installing the real camera until I was about ready to leave. I have also used a Door Stopper in some places, usually in hotels. They are very handy and sell on Amazon for about $10 for a large one but understand they will not stop someone from coming in, just slows them down. The Trip Wire Alarm looks handy but never used one...might be something to look in to...
We've covered all of this and more on this forum over the years, enough to claim we trained the CIA. With that being said, for about $150, that isn't a bad kit if the quality is legit. It's definitely worth it for those who don't already have access to most of these items and employ these tactics now. About the only thing you will really need is a dog.
