That is why in Corporate America, Someone ELSE Sets the CEOs Salary, and Benefits Package. Politicos do that, themselves, and that is just WRONG. Then they, almost ALWAYS, Exempt themselves, from the Statutes, they Pass on their Constituents.

And they cut funding to programs so they can give themselves big ol' fat raises too, don't forget that.

no representation without taxation. As previously said.

Whenever you say that, they say "so you don't want poor people to vote?"

The answer of course is the other way around- everybody votes AND EVERYBODY PAYS TAXES. The progressive tax system is the real evil here, people get to vote on how to spend other people's money.

If you want to vote for the guy who promises to raise taxes, that's perfectly alright, just so you know- he's raising your taxes too, a flat rate paid by EVERYBODY.

And that's the only fair way to do it. See how many democrats the poor vote for then.

Basically, if they want too look at it that way then yes. I don't want the poor people and ESPECIALLY those who not only don't pay taxes but still get a "refund" every year to vote. Skin in the game or no say in the outcome.

"A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship." - Alexander Fraser Tytler (over 250 years ago people understood!)
ETA - It may or may not have been said by Tytler...not sure now but the sentiment is valid either way.

Or, more simply. Socialism can only work until you run out of other people's money.

Here's an interesting twist to the whole, "no vote unless you pay taxes" idea.

A buddy of mine, now a retired USAF Technical Sergeant (E-6) once told me that with his wife & 2 kids as dependents, and his being the only paycheck coming in (his family is old school traditional, his wife's job was to stay at home, to raise & home school their kids), he paid virtually ZERO in taxes, up until the day he retired.

Really says something about how poorly our military folks are paid, doesn't it?

Personally, I always liked the idea presented in the Sci-Fi movie, "Starship Troopers". You serve your country (or in their case, world) in some way. Be it military, or as a civilian worker, in order to get a vote. If you aren't willing to serve, you don't get a vote. Makes me wonder whether the military veterans in this country could form a viable 3rd political party?

Well the way I look at it, he is working and just does not make enough for that tax threshold.... but he would pay taxes if he made enough.... that would garner a vote in my book. As well as any spouse married to a tax payer......

    How about this, then?
    Citizen taxpayers.
Citizen active service mil and ex mil (fully served commission or enlistment obligation) tax payer or not
Green card on active duty (I really like those guys.) Privilege suspended when the service obligation ends.

No "undocumented immigrants" (I really don't like those guys) nor documented non citizens.

As much as I dislike undocumented and documented non-citizens, the terms "illegal immigrant" and "undocumented immigrant" stick in my craw almost as much. You didn't do it right/legally? You DIDN'T immigrate!

Yep, that's why the quotation marks. Had I used the term I usually use casually, I'd have to give me a short term ban.

Just call 'em what they are...illegal aliens. Short, sweet, to the point and "offensive" to their tender sensibilities. :D

I have a rather more offensive (to them, not us) term starting with a "w" and modified with an adjective starting with "f" and ending in "g" in mind. You have to understand that I'm prejudiced against the illegal aspects, not the racial ones.

That's a "Roger" on the fw's, just that they aren't all necessarily w's.

Yes, I know EXACTLY what you're saying from living in Texas for 7 years. Even as a kid I would have known. ;)

Thus, why so many people have started saying, "My firearms will NEVER be illegal.....just UNDOCUMENTED!!" ;)
