    These filters are great barter items when city water is done or river water starts making people sick. Think of how in demand a top notch filter would be in a Cholera outbreak.

    Quig, if this works, maybe your guy would offer a deal on replacement ceramics.

    Yes , one complete unit , But as I stated & since Im coastal , for a unit that is to purify the water but not remove the salt , then You MUST only have Fresh water.

    Looking at what happened to the poor folks of Japan.
    They don't seem to do a combined unit , or is the desalination unit take care of both.

    In 1995 I witnessed folks fishing with large landing nets in the ditches. They were catching large salmon. I thought great , but the side product on such a high tide and the storm caused the salt chuck to flow into most of the folks wells and cause a boil water advisory. I later read that those who tasted salt were to buy bottled water.

    I was in LUCK , told SWMBO that the wobble pops are bottled. She came back with "nothing wrong with our well!"

    Since then there have been 3 storms that have had the same warnings of boil.. The salt part is never said on the radio..

    I would think with all the fracking plus anyone looking at shakers & movers (earth rumblings) they would also worry about salt plus other minerals in new found water streams.

    I wouldn't be purchasing this item for hiking or back country, survival mode is more like it.

    Just saying .
    A few $ on the correct unit is worth it. Matches in a storm are great providing there water/windproof.
