I owe an apology to Fernando "FerFAL" Aquirre, the editor of the Surviving in Argentina blog. In a recent radio interview, I made reference to some of his comments in the Minion Report Forums, that I had construed as anti-semitic. He e-mailed me yesterday to clarify that he is not an anti-semite, but rather that he is only opposed to Nationalist Zionism. He explained: "I don’t agree with Israel’s foreign policy, which was led until recently by violent Zionist extremists." He also clarified: "I don’t believe one ethnicity or religion implies superiority over others and I don’t discriminate people because of their last name, skin color or religious belief." I was glad to hear that.

That was an apology? Millions of listeners to the radio program and he appears to insult FerFal (I have no idea what JWR is talking about, with the whole 'quasi-racial' thing), and then this?

I don't know what he's talking about either as I didn't hear the audio.

    I heard it.

He talked about the value of FerFals' blog but made a point of distancing himself from "racial" opinions.

He made a bad assumption about the man and then publicly apologized.

Should be water under the bridge.

Does Rawles have a radio show or what show was this?

Rawles was interviewed by George Noory on Coast to Coast which is a late night "UFO / Sasquatch / Freemason / Poltergeist" type talkshow formerly hosted by Art Bell.
This show is now on "Rush Radio" stations - if you have one near you.
He was quite good. Very good intro to prepping along with some detailed info.

I heard it online. JWR had a link to it on his blog, but stated that the link would expire. Not sure if it's still valid.

I catch C2C at times. Nice way to spend a late night drive.

    That wasn't an appology.

"I owe an apology to Fernando "FerFAL" Aquirre"

When someone says that, I take it at face value.

I listen to what they say...

And when they make snide comments about how someone 'explained themselves' like they owed it... When I know DAMN good and well the TRUE nature of things... and when there's things like "I was glad to hear it"

I take it for what it is.

It's like making an acusation on the front page... and thn putting the retraction on page 13B.

    NOT an appoligy.

Even if that's true, why take sides?
This should be a private matter between them.
Really, who cares? They're grown men and can settle the matter themselves.
I'll continue to read both blogs an benefit as a result.

    Making an observation....

    Why not?

As to a private matter... that went out the window when JWR decided to commit slander on the radio.

I believe glimpses into people's character tells us much about them...

And should be used in the weighing of them/your consideration of them.

I can't say one way or the other....If you do something like that via radio/tv, whatever media, an apology is certainly a requirement ( imho).
Now as far as James Wesly Rawles, he's not much of a long winded person...pretty much short ( if not too sweet) at times. Personally, I think he is guilty of what so many of us have done before in the past...overreact to something that when we take a step or two back and look at it, we may have jumped the gun so to speak, and were too quick to criticize and judge someone else. ( I know, I've done it myself...more than once!)

    I might think that...

If this were the first time.
