I want one and i live out in the sticks. Unfortunately, it doesn't come loaded with money.

 

Well 8,000.00 is not a bad price though it will go up I would say 20,000.00 should get it. But what I think might make it unusable is the weight of the vehicle. No dirt roads with that puppy. But of course you did say Urban so I just had my blond moment for today. Thats what too much food on christmas will do for ya, make you sou tired you cant see words lol.

 

Yep, 13 tons...... bit heavy for a small camper, but you could sure run down some MZB's with it.

 

Instead of paying 1,000 bucks for run flats could you say vshoot some of that foam stuff inside an aired up tire and do it that way or would the foam just collapse due to the weight?

 

Density and structural rigidity of spray in foam is not nearly enough to support a vehicle.

I tried it in a lawn tractor with a bad leak. weight of lawn tractor collapsed the foam tire didn't go completely flat. It did how ever peal off the rim. then the rim hit the ground.

 

If you look closely, it says "reserve not met", no way it will end up going for a measly 8 Grand!

yeah, I know I'm dreaming. but without a dream one might as well curl up and die.

 

Not only is the front end vulnerable - look at the fuel tank! The first car you hit would probably disable you. From there, just shoot a hole in the fuel tank and light it on fire. Presto - baked occupants! That thing was built for use in an orderly society with functioning radios and police departments that respond promptly.

A 2008 model year truck will sell for a lot, too. Too much, for sure. And 2008 is way too new anyway. That engine is electronically operated, and so is the transmission. I would want mechanical all the way. Give me an older truck with no electronics, and a 5.9 or 8.3 Cummins rather than a DT466. There are parts (and mods) everywhere for the B and C series Cummins engines. And, for a BOV, give me a manual transmission with a true granny gear.

I always have liked the half tracks and the ducks fromm ww2 though the fmc cargo carrier could be usefull along with the apc as long as they had guns mounted uptop

 

They APCs appealed to me.. the British ones that are still in service in Afghanistan. One for running and another for spares would be awesome. Take out most of the rear seats and you could haul pallets of supplies on each run. They can be made road legal in most states

But the steel track version could still be handy in the post SHTF world.......By then nobody will give a kitty.

 

I picked up a 1985 ford F250 utility truck c/ 351w engine and have begun rebuilding this as a urban GOOD vehicle. Great truck, terrible gas mileage no matter what I do to the chassis or engine. I can not imagine the dismal mileage a 13 ton vehicle would have c/ scarce fuel in a grid down scenario

Hey Bruce, Tell me exactly what a DD6V53 is. I have one dead cylinder in the 351 so if the cost to rebuild this is comprable I might just take you up on that idea. BTW, I lived in Alaska for 4 years between 1996 and 2000. Loved it up there. Are you rural up there?
