And if those two promotions seem hard to understand, the third is particularly hard to fathom. William G. McMahon, who had been the BATFE's deputy director of operations in the West, has been made the deputy assistant director of the Office of Professional Responsibility and Security Operations. That is the division within BATFE that investigates misconduct by agency personnel. Now, McMahon will be called on to investigate BATFE agents who abuse their positions. Perhaps in "Washington D.C. logic" it makes sense to put a rogue agent in charge of investigating other rogue agents. To the rest of the country, it makes no sense at all. For months, the Department of Justice and the BATFE have stonewalled congressional inquiries into "Fast and Furious." These three agents were not only at the center of running the failed operation in Phoenix, but directly aided DOJ in the efforts to hide the truth from Congress. In testimony before Rep. Darrell Issa's House Oversight Committee, all three evaded and dodged questions. This appears to be exactly what senior DOJ officials wanted and expected, and now they have rewarded the agents with promotions. NRA has called for the resignation of attorney General Eric Holder. But all those involved in "Fast and Furious" should be fired. To promote them instead is a slap in the face of Congress and the American people. </td></tr></tbody></table>
You just have to understand.... They were just doing what their Bosses in DC, wanted them to do... Just because it Blew up in their Faces... Why should that get in the way of their professional advancement... These guys did the Bosses bidding, and got rewarded for it, plain and simple.... You have to have worked in a Federal Agency to understand. Congress is so split that they could hold hearings, till the LORD Returns, and No action will ever come of it. This is the reality of our Federal Government. Get used to it..... YMMV....

Did the firearms leave the US and comeback or did they stay here?? IF the ATF doesn't know the answer; the ATF lost track of the straw buyers after the straw buyers made the purchase. It is possible the whole operation was nothing but a political ploy to put guns in the hands of criminals to create a crisis; a "never let a crisis go to waste" moment to ban or increase firearms regulations. Another oddity, the ATF hasn't made any arrests as a result of operation "fast and furious". People need to write their Congress person.

There is a GIANT difference between what these fellows did, in Phoenix, and what the Nazi's did in WWII. If you can't see that, well that is your problem, certainly NOT mine. These fellows did NOT, Torture, or KILL, anyone. They did not Gas, Brutalize, Forcibly Relocate, or any of the things the Nazi's were convicted of. If they had, they would have been prosecuted, to the fullest extent of the LAW of our Land. What they did is allow others to break our Laws, and then lost track of the products they were supposed to be watching. Last time I checked, that is not a Capital Offense, or even prosecutable, in many cases. My Opinion, and I do NOT defend their actions in the slightest..... YMMV....
The Field agents should have blown the whistle on their handlers; now because of their actions Americans and Mexicans have been killed or maimed. No matter it is sliced; they and their handler's are accessories to those crimes.
Yes you are defending them. The following orders says so, and that it's okay they got promoted. Encourage others to break the law is a crime. How many people are going to end up victims from those gun sales? My example still applies, but it must have hit a nerve. It's funny how people want law and order but for it not to apply to The very people that are suppose to protect us.

"Fast and furious isn't over, it's still happening" First it was 1,600 guns, then 2,000 now it's probably more. Maybe, just maybe 4473s, serial numbers and being able to to trace a gun isn't an entirely bad thing...
