    Excellent video on axes! I prefer the medium sizes myself. That is why I also love my Rifleman Tomahawk.

    I have adopted the size of the Coldsteel Trail Boss as my size...closer to the large than the medium, but not quite the size of the large in Ray's video.
    Specs:
    Cold Steel trail boss axe is 23" overall with 6 1/2" 1055 high carbon steel axe head that has a 4 1/2" cutting edge.

    The trail boss axe has a genuine hickory axe handle, weighs 41 1/2 oz



    Only downside: No sheath. I reckon I can fashion one some day.

    My axe I take hiking with me most of the season:

    estwing.

    I couldn't imagine carrying a larger Estwing, though. That 26" Gator posted must be a tank.

    Indeed it is. My local hardware store had it for just under $30. One of the best purchases I ever made.

    Fiskars are my pick of axes and splitters, I use an ax quite a bit and found fiskars the best I have ever used. Price is high but it is worth it for me.
