I have an associate that came across 5 bolt's/roll's of Kevlar. What could you do with roll's of Kevlar, applications and so on that would be worth taking them off her hands? She wants $75 for the lot and I think it may be worth it, but wanted some Monkey input on this question. Please advise if you think this may be a good item to pick up at that price.
    Thank you in advance!!

Are you sure that its kevlar? All the kevlar i have worked with was yellow. If it is kevlar then by all means grab it. you can use it for composite repair just like you would fiberglass cloth, just bear in mind that steel shears/scissors wont cut it and you will need titanium or better. Oh, and wear a respirator when sanding this stuff...

I have seen Kevlar that was not yellow. I worked on the construction project of the Gainesville Florida BATF Office in the Commerce Bldg across the street from the main Library. It has walls lined with Kevlar to give them a huge safe room in the middle of that office complex. The half inch to 5/8th inch thick, very heavy panels were not yellow threaded mesh. It may or may not have been Kevlar, but we were told it was.

Sounds to me like a good purchase to make!

The kevlar drive belts of my machines are dark brown/black. And I did have a customer cut one with a box-cutter. These belts are toothed and @3/4" X 1/8" on the flat band. They can and are cut and spliced with dykes (diagonal cutters). It is tough stuff, but I have never had to result to special shears. .

That was kind of what I was thinking of as well, some Kevlar may not be yellow. I researched a bit on line with no real good results. Guess I take a look at it and if it has potential then barter it down with the fact it is not guaranteed Kevlar with "paper" on the manufacture.

I did a project a while back where they installed some sort of "special" batting/insulation into the exterior walls, for an entire floor, that was white. The place also had ballistic film on the windows installed, sound breaks on all the conduits leaving the floor, sound masking and so on. Place was pretty secure from blast and other threats for sure.

Toughest upholstery you'll ever find. I covered a stool at work with kevlar material from an airbag many years ago, and will probably never be able to wear it out. Good stuff to have around.

Let me get this straight...you have the opportunity to buy 5 bolts/rolls of what may very well be Kevlar at $15/bolt?

Most places online sell it by the foot for that much for small orders.

Can you get the lengths/widths of the bolts? Are they remnants? I don't know that I'd take em almost sight unseen. That could be a killer deal to protect your long range hide.

That was my thought as well and I am going to pick them up tomorrow.

I was looking for second opinions and what I might be able to use them for in the context of project ideas.

If it were me, I would buy them. If they were not Kevlar, the seller would need Kevlar to protect their a$$.

Heavy leather gets drilled before stitching. I doubt it would be much harder than that.

You could line the doors of your vehicle with that...depends on the thickness and/or how you laminate it.
    You could line clothing, too...
You could strengthen axe handles and epoxy a layer over the handle...
Make an impressive homemade fishing rod or bow...
You could make kevlar micarta for knife handles...or as ballistic panels (experimentation only).

Or even sell the kevlar in batches. Lots of stuff to do with that.
