Very interesting. Old windmills had multiple blades with a governor to keep it from over spinning. Why are these new systems only using two and three blades? Am sure they did lots of research but old timers were not fools and their pumps worked fine--still do.

Fewer blades spin faster, more blades spin in less wind. It's a trade off.
Light winds in your area, use wider blades and more of them to catch the breeze. High winds will spin fewer blades much faster.
I'm thinking of designing a head with spring loaded blades that would flex inward as winds increased.

To reduce complexity, sensitivity to corrosion and number of moving parts, many designs rather than adjusting blade pitch angle, just have a pivoting vane feather (relative to the blade plane) and shed wind by cocking the whole prop assembly more and more sideways to the wind as blade rotation speed increases.

If you are referring to the folding of the tail assembly to reduce the effect of the wind on the blades, that is pretty old tech (but works). if you mean something else, perhaps you have a link to show your meaning?

Yep, the folding of the vane.

Been there and talked to these folks. Got to see and put hands on some stuff and I am very impressed with them and their store. They have several wind and solar units up and running and power their whole operation with them. Lots of stuff in stock if you care to purchase.

Im going to purchase one unit only for trial. Not because of them , but my situation , Im in a forest , trees 150' min height , I have cleared 3 hectares / 6 acres but still have a few hundred hectares around that of full forested ..
I do get a constant breeze , and wind in the winter, but not like having a 300' tower would produce.. The tower is not going to happen due to the Helio traffic we get @ the ranch .
