A 12 buck prep that might save the day if TSHTF.

I've mentioned the Bubba Effect before....the people that live near you but don't prep a lick are the ones you really should worry about and prepare for.....not the Blue Helmet/Black helicopter guys. Bubba is the one that gonna come knocking first (maybe) and come back at night the second time with his rusty 30.30 and the half box of shells he found in the closet from that deer hunting trip 15 years ago.

This 12 bucks might just give you the early warning you need to know Bubba is creeping up the back path, or in thru the side yard, or where ever....

10 fairly bright LEDs, and a motion sensor that will silhouette Bubba enough to maybe get off the first shot...or if nothing else, let you know SOMETHING is out there in an otherwise grid down, dark world.

Or put in a hallway, or entry point of your house, it would give you the advantage of surprise if you know somebody is coming but you're not quite sure what point they are at yet.

Or a variety of other creative uses.

There simply is no such thing as too much early warning when you may only get one chance.

Next time you order something from Amazon and already getting free shipping, drop 12 bucks on a pair of these.

Now that would be handy. I am thinkin several would be better. Have a lot of perimeter to cover. Or to trap one of those pesky deer moving through.

Yeah, I ordered the 2pack to get them in hand and see what they are. For the price, and what you could do with them, a dozen or so is not out of the question to have on hand. If nothing else, just for overlapping field of coverage in case one fails.

    As have I.

I use the Dakota Alert MURS system primarily (and have for years on the driveway).....you can set up 4 sensors per base unit, and they will alert you by sensor ( ZONE 1, or 2-3-4). Good long range system ( they claim miles ). I've got a complete backup set in storage to deploy if times warrant LOTS of early warning points around the farm.

Dakota Alert, Wireless Alarms and Security

Another, cheaper system, I use as a deer-in-garden alert is made by Miltronics. Base unit and as many sensors as you want, but needs to be put where you can see the sensor location as it doesn't differentiate between which sensor is tripped like the Dakota unit does.

    From the product details -
"Instantly add motion-activated light for security and safety - indoors or out*Infrared technology senses both movement and heat for fewer false activations; daylight-off function*Compact (3 in. x 3 in.) and lightweight (4.3 oz) lets you install almost anywhere; easy-mounting slot *10 super-bright LED cast pure white light, last for 100,000 hours, sip battery power*Wire-free installation, operates for months on 3 AA batteries (not included); lead-free RoHS-qualityEffective tool for both security and safety; the sudden activation startles unwanted visitors but also provides safe entrance and room lighting for your family and guests. We were very impressed with the performance of this device in our tests. The sensor is quite sensitive, very quick to light and we experienced no false activations. An excellent way to add automatic light to dark closets and cabinets; makes a great night light for safer navigation without producing constant light - especially helpful during power outages. Effective range 10-15' front, 15-20' side-to-side, 30-second auto-off; white finish matches any décor. Outdoor installation should only be done where unit will be protected from direct exposure to elements. Also has constant-on setting when needed. 3 in. x 3 in. x 1-3/8 in.; 4.3 oz with 3 AA batteries installed (batteries not included)."
The limited range won't support much outdoor use. That said, I have a place in mind just outside one of my doors that can make good use of one. Next Amazon order coming soon.

No, it's not a GREAT unit, but for the price, and given certain applications (early warning, element of surprise) and proper placement, I think it's well worth having a handful of them around.

Just having a light come on is going to get the attention of just about any human perp trying to sneak up on your location. Dinner on the hoof, not so much.

Think I am with you TnAndy. Cheep and energy efficient. Would be a concern for me that it is not weather resistant..

Don't believe the description. If rain water runs down the back, it's getting in the guts of this little thing. Better plan on a cover.

Fold it up in a Ziplock bag? (That's what I do with my outdoor thermometer sending unit. Works well.)

If you could only connect those lights to set off the claymores right after they light up so the last thing Bubba sees is " front toward enemy" ......j/k lol

Speaking of Bubba factor , I was watching recent Doomsday Prepper episode with the low grade moron speaking about coming to take what others have put away instead of prepping himself...made me sad that such wastes of space are breeding but at least he is making his own body armor testing it by firing #9 birdshot ( reduced recoil load ) at an utterly oblique angle and pronouncing it fit for combat - who said nature doesn't cull the herd naturally lol.

There are LOTS of battery operated motion flood lights available, and I suppose these LED ones will work if utilized properly. Very good idea. I use motion lights, and next to dogs, they are the best you can get for security. Also try to get the hard-wired versions with battery backup if you want to go hardcore, even solar for outdoors.

Another neat security device along the same lines, is tiny solar lawn lights, the ones you pay around $3 each for. Just stick them in the ground and you're good to go. They serve as fantastic yard markers for setting range designation. =)

Along the same line. The Driveway Patrol motion detectors are good for 100 to 300 feet depending on the model. They are a two piece gadget, one being the sensor and the other being the beeper. Battery operated and wireless the ones I get at Harbor freight run about 10 or 12 bucks and work pretty good.
