Making Your Own Deodorant (the easy way)

    DSC00019.JPG
    INGREDIENTS:
    • Baking Soda Powder (sodium bicarbonate)
    • Potato Starch Powder (or any starch you prefer)
    • Coconut Oil
    • Essential Oil (I like a variety of pine scents)
    • Shea Butter (optional)

First, get your ingredients together and a teaspoon ( I use a plastic reusable teaspoon) as well as your container. Mix together three slightly heaping teaspoons each of your dry ingredients, for a total of six teaspoons of powder in the container. Next, mix in two heaping teaspoons of coconut oil (I prefer non-melted) with your spoon gently until it all blends. You may also mix in the shea butter at this time, and I usually mix only 1/2 tsp in a batch this size. The shea butter is optional. When finished, it should be the consistency of a dry paste. See images for more clarity. For a thicker more bar-like deodorant, mix in some beeswax and some recipes use arrowroot powder also.

DSC00021.JPG All dry ingredients ready to go

DSC00022.JPG After mixing in the coconut oil, before mixing in the essential oil

DSC00023.JPG Add the scented oil and mix some more

DSC00024.JPG The final product should be like this. You can add more powder or coconut oil as desired

    HOW TO APPLY:

Just like our tooth powder and toothpaste recipe, these are all natural ingredients and will not harm you. I like to apply to my hands and rub in under the arms and on my sides. This will not leave white stains on you either.

Why not repack it in a used twist up deodorant can? spice.

That image is annoying. Yes, you can do that if you want to, Kellory. You would have to mix some beeswax with it, like I said to make it thicker. It's pretty much common knowledge to do this if you know how to make your own deodorant. My way shown above is just easier. No need to spend time making a roll-on if you don't need/want to.

Why annoying? Not talking roll on either, stick would be easier. With the thumb screw to make it rise. They have generic/ translucent ones for sale, but a used one cost nothing. Image was just to show what type of can.

You probably don't know, which is common for folks your age and such, and that's fine. I can't expect you to know what I meant by that anyway, it wasn't personal. I use the dark theme, so every massive, white image is annoying. Large images linked from the web are also annoying, especially when not resized. No big deal. I fixed it for you, man.

Yes, I know about the deodorant sticks, bud. Like I said, most people who make their own deodorant already know how to do this. It's just easier to keep in in a bowl, and with my recipe, it's clean, efficient, and practical. Got it?

It's also, all over your hands. That would bug me.

It melts into the skin. Try it. Coconut oil and shea butter leave no trace. All you are left with is the scent.

    Take care.

I like this idea, Next check i'm buying supplies for this and the toothpaste. I'd rather know what is in the stuff coming into contact with my body all day. Most the time i prefer to go without deodorant but since i work in an office setting with allot of people i do use it.
