I was sitting and watching the sun set when it ocured to me that it seemed like the sun was going down further to the north than I could remember.. Mentioned it to a couple other people they agreed that it did seem further to the north.. Just my altered perception of reality??

Depending upon your location and if you are using the magnetic north pole as a reference, then, yeah, it actually may be setting further "north." ;-) The moving magnetic north pole Have fun. AT
Looks to this child, that we are heading away from a Pole Reversal... As the Magnetic Pole is moving NORTH, not South....
I had an entire bottle of cloudy bay savignon blanc. I think the sun is setting to the South. Also, there was a plane flying across it. I think that is some type of eclipse.

Seemed that it's setting a lot further north than it usually does at any time during the summer.. Will have to take some precise bearings and compare them with the acumolated data over the next twenty five years or so.. See.. One can learn from the example of a bureaucracy...
I think the answer is rather simple. It's the inclination path in relation to the sun which changes. Irrespective of where you are on the globe, the Sun will always rise exactly East and set exactly West on two days: March 21 and September 21 which are the two equinoxes. "The inclination of the Earth's rotation axis causes the seasons and the position of sunrise and sunset to change every day." LINK: SUNRISE AND SUNSET POSITIONS CHANGE EVERY DAY I think this answers your question why the sun appears to be setting further on the horizon than you recall , but there's actually quite a bit more to it. I just gave you the simplified answer.
Would like to have rationalize it off to some really good home made whiskey from a friend , however haven't visited him in a while.. I don't get to see much of a sunrise here due to the mountain.. Probably just a foggy old man memories...
Well, sorta. You have to be north of the Tropic of Cancer for the sun to be south of you all year long.
there's one thing that i've noticed, since moving into the home i live in now..it's to north of us during the summer.and to the south of us during the winter..and i think that has to do with where the earth is located in it's orbit around the sun at the time of orbit..
Just to mention a little fact that was widely reported in the MSM exactly once: Last year the Sun returned to the Arctic three days late. The Inuit were not happy. They, and a lot of other Up There people keep a close eye on the end of that six months of night. So the only way that could happen is if the Earth's orbit has changed. Period. Maybe the Earth was indulging in a little pre-Polar Shift precession. (Happiness is a Warm Wobble.) There's no way us peasants would know about that except to notice when and where the Sun rose and set. Say, with our very own little Stonehenges. Would the Fed. Gov. let the Science Guys spread the news about something like that? Not likely if they thought it would start a panic or threaten their position of power.
Just because something is "Reported" by some "Talking Head" doesn't make it a FACT.... If there was, IN FACT" such a "One Time Wobble" is would have been Noticed, and Reported, by Every Astronomer on this Rock, and that would have made Celestial Calculations for Star Gazing, and Radio Astronomy, as well as tracking Deep Space Probes, different by a HUGH Bunch, and THAT would be talked about, and not just in those circles..... It would ALSO have played havoc with ALL Fixed Earth Bound GeoStationary SAT LInk Dishes, as they need to be within a few 10th's of a Degree, to stay on the GeoStationary Bird, that they Communicate with.... No such discrepancy was noticed on my SAT Based Links, here, or reported anywhere else, that I have heard of. There are WAY to Many People, whose Livelihoods depend on Stable Orbital Mechanics, for our .GOV, or ALL the .GOVs on this Rock, to demand they keep their "Traps shut" about this sort of thing.... and "Scientists" are not KNOWN for that ability, in the First Place.....
