2nd Amendment Rights, - not if you use a PO Box

Went to Wally World yesterday, they had a nice Remington 870 in wood, $307.00.

I have one in Poly that's been converted to a home defense gun, with I believe is a 10 round tube.

I could not buy it, couldn't pass the NICS test, because I live out of my PO Box.
I needed a piece of Government issued ID that had my street address on it.
What!!! So if I'm homeless I've given up my 2nd amendment rights?

Come on I have a drivers license and passport that clearly show that I am an American Citizen.
Finally today I found my voters registration card (don't need it to vote, they scan my DL) it has my street address on it (precinct reasons) the salesman first balked because it also has my PO Box on it, I pointed out the street address... he does all the paper work brings out the gun, but the Ass manager has to check it all out, and he can not see the street address either, WTF.

I did finally walk out the door, after the Ass Manager hand carries the gun to the outside (so I don't shoot up the store, although they wanted to sell me shot gun shells...)

We need to take back our country.

Not defending the A$$ clowns at wally world but for sometime now walking a firearm out is very common at many vendors.

In a box, not yet assembled.... I could have assembled on the sidewalk, loaded it with the shells they begged me to buy and walked right back in. I think it's an overboard policy, but perhaps they have had problems in the past?

It may be overboard, but if you were to assemble that shotgun and load it, the guy watching you do it has had all the time he needs to call for backup, pull his own piece, dial 911, .....in other words, he can respond a lot faster than you could. It also puts you right in the cameras for later prosecution. Shows intent, as well. (Premeditated). Kinda hard to walk away from that alive and free.

@azrancher -I get what you are saying, man. I don't think the others missed your point, but they were probably more set on discussing other points instead. To me, it's more important to be treated with the respect a customer deserves, but more than this, to be treated like a sovereign citizen. Since the terrorism™ scare started, this country has slid down the slope further every day. I can remember twenty years ago and the ease at which any law abiding citizen could buy a firearm without having to feel like they were a criminal. Today, only the police and government officials are seen as trustworthy, and corporations which sell firearms are not hesitant about walking the gun out the door in the box because every citizen has become a suspect. Every citizen is a potential threat. Every citizen can be a crack-pot who can snap at any moment. Yes, it's ridiculous.

This is why I won't ever buy a gun from a store which has this policy. I buy only from local gun stores who specialize in firearms and respect their customers. Over the years, I have gotten to know these people well, and can order anything I need from them knowing they will not judge me or treat me like a criminal.

Wal-Mart, Dick's, and any corporate chain store represents the exact definition of what is wrong with America.

Must be a WallyWorld BS Policy, as Physical Addresses can be as simple as "23 Mile Richards Rd" or even "Lot3, Block B, EXI South Subdivision" on a ATF-4473.... Yea, I have to explain my Physical Address to Yahoos all the time. My answer usually is "You can't have a Street Address, if you do NOT have Streets." How many people have ever seen a P.O. Box Address that isn't a Number? Well Mine isn't a number, it is three Letters "EXI" which is our Airport Designation.... Why the Post Office did that? You have to ASK THEM..... Since I AM an FFL Holder, all I need to do is give them a Signed Copy of my FFL, and no NICS Check Required, Period... That is awful nice, when traveling, and I see a shiny New FireArm, that just is screaming out "Buy Me, and take me Home...."

Bruce, yeah I understand but the form you now fill out on line says no PO boxes, so if you list your physical location Lot 69 Block XYZ you must have a government issued ID that has that one on it, I only have that on my voter's registration card that has no ID number at all, and could easily be photoshopped, oh and they would accept a vehicle registration form.... like I couldn't photoshop one of those? This is so stupid...

Had Cabela's do it when I bought a rifle out of state. The purchase was no problem, but the sales person walked me to the front door of the store, firearm in the box, and handed me my purchase

I bought a 420 round can of 5.56 at Walmart a while back and the little fellow had to walk it to the front door for me. I am going to a local gun show tomorrow and I bet I can walk out the door with anything I can afford. I only use wally world as a last resort.

I have went through the same drill several times. Smiling to my self while I was carrying concealed, as the clerk carried my new gun to the exit for me.

Yep, that is the big hole in the logic. They are only making sure THAT gun is safe, not the customer.

Wait until you try and update your driver's license with a new address. I had to have my birth cert (where's Obama's?), my SSN card, and two pieces of mail that shows the new address (e.g., utilities or bank statement). What if your spouse has everything in their name regarding bank/utilities? You are screwed because you can't meet all of the criteria.

    F the Patriot Act. Bush should've known better . . . but, he's a politician so I don't expect much.

Well, AZ Rancher, at least you made a good choice on the make and model of shotgun.

But what it's coming down to if this administration gets its way, is that if you've ever had a ticket for jaywalking or speeding you'll be disqualified and won't be able to pass the NICS check.

This is the ever-tightening noose of gun control and it still won't stop idiots who shoot up movie theaters.

Its a big chain store policy thingy and I don't blame them for escorting the firearm out of the building.

More than one yahoo has loaded up a round in the store and ate a round.

    Clean-up on Isle 3 !!!
