God helps those who help themselves. I don't need to prove myself to God.

    Hi Dunerunner,
I take it from that, I can't put you down as a maybe. I appreciate your honesty and frankness. We are hoping that the show will be good fun to watch. It should be a celebration of the faith of the participants while, at the same time, provide the viewers with lots of info about survival techniques. We are also hoping that at the same time the viewers can be transported to / inspired to go to some of the magnificent settings.
Thanks for taking a look anyhow and thankyou for the welcome
    kind regards,
    Mark.

Oh Mark....I'm your man! I'm ex military, a prepper for quite some years, and I have a remarkable belief in god. It may cost your production company a return business class air ticket from Australia...but I'm worth it! I'll be on my knees prayin' for god's providence in guiding you to give me the nod...oh, and the air tickets.

Sir, it would also violate common sense, to expose yourself to that kind of scrutiny. Several of the Preppers who have done so, (on other shows) have been robbed, vandalized, and in other ways, victimized.

The best way to rob someone, is to know what they have worth taking, and how they intend to defend it.
And since responsible prepping is somewhat boring to watch, it will be the stupid, the asinine, and the fail reel that make it to the viewers. No thank you.

By the way, welcome to the monkey.

First rule of life: Never talk to the media.

I have endured enough on this earth to know my beliefs will always give me faith in my own skillsets and abilities to overcome whatever "challenges" befall my path. I for one do not need any scripted "reality" show to prove to myself what my own self-worth is.

There was a man caught in a flood, a neighbor drove past in a 4X4 truck and offered him a ride to higher ground but the man refused stating: God will save me.".
As the waters rose the man took refuge on the second floor of his house. A rescue boat stopped and the man refused to get in the boat again saying; God will save me !".
The waters continued to rise forcing the man to the roof. A helicopter hovered overhead and the man waved his arms frantically, when the rescuers reached him he refused to be taken from the roof once again saying; God will save me !". The waters continued rising and the man was swept away and drowned.
Standing at the Pearly Gates the man angrily berated his God; "Why did you let me die ?" He wailed, "You could have saved me !".
God calmly told the man "I sent you a 4X4 truck, a boat and a helicopter. What were you expecting?"

If you really want to do, what you state on the OP, Why do you not tell us of YOUR Expertise in the Survival Fraternity. Any Fool can come up with a Tv Show Idea, but before one can DO such a Show, they need to have DONE the things that they are looking for, so they have CONTEXT, to know what they are talking about.... Reality Show Producers, that I have met, all come from places like NYC, and really have NO Clue, about Survival, Prep'ing, and Bush Living.... We try and educate them, and a few, after three or four Seasons, are beginning to get the Picture, but it is an Education process, for them. Soooooo... Tell us ALL, just why we should take YOU Seriously.....

Oh yea, Welcome to the Monkey Tree, pick yourself out a branch, and have a GOOD LOOK Around.......

    Hi BT Post,
You are right that most TV producers come from NYC (or some urban sprawl, London in my case). It is also true that I have practically no knowledge about survival or bush living. What I do have (and you allude to it) is the willingness to learn. I agree that making a TV series is a learning process, one that I hope I can begin quicker than 3 series in though!
Once the show is in full production, on location, we would definitely have expert survivalist consultants. But until then we are purely searching for bonafide characters from the world of bushcraft and survival. I didn't want to cause any offense, but looking for survivalists I just hoped that there might be some crossover in the prepper community.
PS. I very much appreciate the moderators' and members'continued patience with me and my OP. Thank you all for taking a look and for some of your funny jibes, I take them in good humor (I haven't yet purchased any plane tickets from Sydney!)
    Kind regards,
    Mark.

Yours is an interesting project Mark, but

Silly me....I forgot to ask which god? I need to be showin' faith in. Yes I know, the image has a Roman Cross atop a snowy mountain peak...but it would be wrong to assume on the basis of that, that the god being prayed to and relied upon exclusively is the triune Christian God. Be it known , that I'm pretty flexible about such arrangements...and if there are fiducary inducements involved, I can be relied upon to accept Pascal's wager (at least for the duration of shooting), and am prepared fake it until I make it to the end of the series.

I'm mystified as to the premise of the series...(and so probably are others too, given some of the earlier replies to your post). It would seem that some here are thinking in terms of a theisticly themed version of Doomsday Preppers https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomsday_Preppers, or The Colony https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Colony_(U.S._TV_series). Either way you should understand the reluctance of some to become involved in the project.

    1. You are an unknown quantity, and although some of your background in the film production arena can be gleaned from online sources, potential recruits will want to know a little more than a screen shot of a mountain with a cross on it before they are prepared to compromise OPSEC on their part.

    2. Yours would seem to be a commercial enterprise, and it would be appropriate as a matter of courtesy to discuss your project with the Site's owner melbo @melbo before using the site to promote or recruit for your product.

    3. Yours is not the first, and will undoubtedly not be the last media producer to hawk your wares to the members of the site. You may learn much by scanning the threads here about survival/prepper "reality" TV shows, and the members' various critical (and most frequently skeptical) views on the various shows' content. This would provide valuable, instructive, data for your research. A recurring theme you will find, is that participation for most would constitute an unacceptable breach of OPSEC. I doubt that there are many media whores or exhibitionists here (other than myself of course) who would be prepared to take the project on. Most folk at SM, for sensible reasons prefer to keep a low profile.

    4. If your show is to be a religious version of the "survival in the wild" genre of "reality" TV, such as 'Out of The Wild' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Out_of_the_Wild, I am not quite sure how you are going to explore the reliance on "faith" in helping participants to get through their many contrived challenges. Drama and conflict are important ingredients in reality TV shows, and I am not sure how periodic prayer meetin's each episode would be contributing to the viewers' demand for vicarious "blood on the floor".

    5. An option you may wish to consider is a "Whose God is Tops" approach to survival in the wild with various tribes of god believers (Christian, Judaic, Islamic, Hindu, Sikh, Jain, etc), and have them duke it out with each other for the survivors with the strongest faith. (Just a tip...Jains are likely to be at somewhat of a disadvantage, being vegetarians; and Jain survivalists setting snares to catch cabbages is probably not going to be compelling viewing.)

    6. If the show is primarily of Christian survivalists...then I would recommend Catholics, Protestants, Messianic Jews, and Orthodox (Russian /Ukrainian /Armenian /Greek...take your pick) Christian believers in competition with each other for the most faithful.

    7. Another twist to the faith contest might be to introduce dangerous creatures to prey upon the participants...I was thinking of satanists, secular humanists, pagans, atheists, pro-choice activists, GLBTQI activists, and feminists, more so than bears, lions, tigers, and insurance salesmen.

    8. If you would like any more pointers, advice or suggestions...just PM me! The offer for services rendered in exchange for the air tickets still stands.

Edit: I believe the Duggar Family are looking for a new reality TV gig. 19 Kids and Counting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The up side being that they are a renowned God Fearin' family, strong on "Christian family values". The down side would be that the family carries a fair bit of "baggage".
