Trump had to settle for Darth Vader as Hillary already called dibbs on The Emperor.

Darth Trump is paraphrasing Carson in the modern young person's style of negation...".I totally went after my old lady with a hammer"...."not".....Trump is using Carson's own words against Carson.....it's a slimy debating tactic, misrepresenting a fellow Republican candidate of being as being a crazy, matricidal maniac....and then saying...hey..."look at me....I'm not crazy like that Ben Carson guy"....

Totally different Genres....G.O.Ts aficionados would have my head on a
    [IMG]
Lannister pike, if I did that.....besides, Trump needs all the public exposure he can get...;)

As satire and parody, the YouTube clip belongs with all the other Obama, Clinton, and Bernie Sanders parody/satire in the humour-jokes-games and diversions forum.

Meh...yep...that's a place where Donald Drumpf would blend in. ;) That being said, voting for Trump just because you think it may peeve me, seems to be a poor reason for voting for any candidate.

You've mistaken fallacious humor as something real.

As we are separated by a common language:
"The logical fallacy of appeal to humor / appeal to ridicule / reductio ad ridiculum occurs when humor, usually ridicule or sarcasm, is used to divert attention away from the discussion or to make the other side appear foolish."

  9. chelloveck

    chelloveck Diabolus Causidicus

In debate, humour is real: whether or not it is fallacious, depends upon the context within which it is used, to either support or challenge a particular argument. Parody and satire is a time honoured practice in the deflation of political egos which are greater than that which "reality" might justify.

    (1) No, I don't think that it is variants of a mother tongue that separates us....it is probably more a case of differences of political culture than anything else. I note that you are not so persnickety and pre cious about correcting your conservative bretheren when it comes to 0bamy, Hilarity, and Bernie jokes as being unacceptable appeals to reductio ad rediculum..... That may possibly cause some cognitive dissonance, given that you are as much a sinner in that regard as I or any other of the SM stalwarts may be. :p

    (2) If anything, the Darth Trump video clip, rather than diverting attention away from the discussion, tends to draw attention to some of the very issues that his supporters would rather gloss over and ignore. For example....

the notion that Trump's business acumen is as gold plated as is his bathroom suite fittings.

Trump enthusiasts would have it that Trump is an entrepreneurial genius, and, it is true, that Trump has made some canny investments, enriching his personal fortune....however, Trump supporters are less vocal in pointing out Trump entrepreneurial failures....One of those failures is a Trump marketing brain-child that had its moment, and then quickly sank without trace....almost ...featured in the YouTtube clip 3m:43s - 4m:24s

Darth Trump has sent four of his business ventures into bankruptcy:

Then, there are all those Trump monogrammed products that had been launched with much puffery, hoopla, and that inimitable hallmark of Trump personal (self) shilling.....

Is Donald Drumpf the kind of "bullionaire" master of bankruptcy and product liquidation, that Americans needs as their next President???

Scratch the surface of Trump financial wizardry, and instead of gold plate, one is probably more apt to find gold paint.

    Trump won Georgia by 38%

The way I have heard it is that he is utilizing the laws that exist. We have many laws that are not something to be proud of but they are on the books and it is legal. Now filing for bankruptcy and walking away from debt that leaves little guys suffering is not a nice or moral thing it do, it is legal. We have lots of bankruptcy and tax codes that protect the corporations.

Drumpf may have handsomely won the Georgia GOP caucus, for the chance to be Georgia"s preferred GOP endorsed presidential candidate....winning the Presidential election itself may be another matter entirely.....but if Drumpf does get nominated, wins the Presidential election and is inaugurated....Georgia will have up to eight years of ruing their choice of candidate. It will also offer up to me, eight years of opportunity to critique the Drumpf administration's performance: Something that most here will look forward to with much anticipation, I'm sure.

More importantly than a Drumpf inauguration, is Drumpf's choice of VP running mate....that person is quite likely to be the successor President, should something terribly bad happen to the President....I think the fear that Sarah Palin might become an accidental president was enough to scupper much of any chance that McCain had in his presidential bid. ;) Presently deep in the bowels of the GOP,s black ops dept there is contingency planning going on how to minimise the Damage to the GOP brand caused by Donaldo the Greatest....let the conspiracy games begin!!!

You are quite correct, about his using legal loopholes and escape hatches from liability, in ways that minimises his exposure to the consequences of less than stellar corporate governance, management, and just plain bad decision making. That is not what I am criticising....even though utilising them does screw investors, employees and contractors sideways.

What I am holding up for critique is a consistent pattern of mediocre managerial performance that has resulted in a number of his enterprises failing spectacularly The fact that those enterprises failed while he was at the helm, is the issue that the electorate should be concerned about; more so than how he managed legally to extricate himself, from his passing Trump branded fads and fancies.

Adding Palin to the mix; you made a rather weak start to the conspiracy games. Might I suggest the heavy duty quilted tin foil for its added protection?

Trump has never been bankrupt only 4 casinos in Atlantic City went bankrupt.

Revel had the tallest hotel in New Jersey. They also owned 13 restaurants, 2 live entertainment venues, multiple swimming pools and a 2 acre landscaped rooftop deck containing outdoor pools, cabanas, fire pits and a "pine grove" (known as Sky Garden) with more than 30,000 live trees and plants. The casino was located six stories above the ocean, and a three-story nightclub overlooked the lobby. They went bankrupt also. Yet to you only Trump's counts??? Dear Chello, try waking up.

"Hillary Clinton, too, had what her husband seemed to term a “senior” moment in 2008 when she erroneously claimed she had come under sniper fire while on a trip to Bosnia as first lady.
That was in 2008; perhaps it explains Benghazi as another senior moment??

Bill Clinton blamed the episode on his wife being exhausted, adding that her critics, “when they’re 60, they’ll forget something when they’re tired at 11 at night, too."

As Trump has been such a successful business man; why the focus on his few bankruptcies other than you prefer those who have filled their pockets through their political career path? If, that is, one can accept becoming a multimillionaire simply by being elected??? Most folks would say sucka; however, to the sheeple, stiffing the people is quite acceptable on one's ways to enriching themselves to millions of $$,

It seems you prefer a candidate who accepts contributions to their foundation in exchange for favored treatment. Liberals are such fools and you epitomize the breed.

Chello, I avoid Australian politics simply because I do not live there; therefore I don't know the intricacies as an Australian would. However, you've made it blatantly apparent it doesn't stop you.

Anyhow I am considering a 40, 80, and 160 meter antenna; so my time is limited.

    Some facts:
    • 264 companies exist bearing Trump's name
    • 54 of them bear Trump's initials
    • Trump currently owns over 500 companies including those listed above.
    • 4 of Trump's companies, all Casinos, filed bankruptcy.
    • This gives Trump a bankruptcy rate of less than 1% even without taking into account all the companies has sold.
    • 44% of all businesses in the US file bankruptcy in the first three years.
    • Trump directly employs about 22,000 people.
Pretty good for a hack that supposedly doesn't know anything about business unlike Bernie "Fast Track the US to Venezuala Poverty Levels" Sanders or Hillary "Whitewater" Clinton.

Naw, it meant more areas allowing casinos and increased competition meant not enough profits to cover the losses of running the establishments. At one point Atlantic City had a virtual monopoly on gambling in the NE US. It was them or fly to Las Vegas.

Trump is not perfect by a long shot. However he is light years better for the country than Cruz or Clinton. I hope he wins it all so I can once again be proven correct on my predictions. If he wins it all, he will get some of what he wants done. It will be enough to turn the debt clack around and get it running the other way. He will bring back some jobs but even more important he will stop the bleeding of corporations leaving the U.S. China and Vietnam will be pissed but they wont be able to do anything about it but watch as many corporations pack it up and move back the the U.S. If they dont?? they will lose a huge market. Or they will pay the tariff and that money will go into the revenue base. I expect to see him challenged by hundreds of Multinational corporations who will say they will wait him out for 4 years and pay the tariffs. Reagan proved that import tariffs create jobs and keep wealth at home. Trump is more like Reagan than any president since 1989. He has quoted Reagan so many times in his trade policy I am surprised that more media does not talk about it. Reagan was a protectionist and the last real Jobs creator who had the last trade surplus. He forced the Japanese to build plants in the U.S. or face a 27% tariff. That is why we have Subaru in Indiana and Toyota in Tennessee and more. Whne Reagan left office the U.S. had a 16 billion dollar trade surplus. TodaY AFTER 4 GLOBALIST PRESIDENTS WE HAVE WELL OVER A HALF TRILLION PER YEAR TRADE DEFICIT. Those facts are not debatable.

You don't have to like his personality. You don't have to like ALL of his platform. I do like his ideas on trade and citizenship. And important to me is, If so many in the establishment and "gimmie" crowd wish him dead then that is a GOOD reason to give him my vote. Besides, Chell has convinced me Mr. Trump is the best candidate. THANKS Chell. [tongue]
