Portable Campfire Log

I have been seeing these at my local grocer-


It is a piece of wood, a rope and the middle of the wood ready to burn. All yours for around $15. It is basically a Swedish torch but some smart person decided to market & produce them. Brilliant. Suburbanites love this stuff. Clean, easy and not gathering sticks. The perfect yuppie campfire.

After looking at these, I really think this would be a great birthday or Christmas gift for suburbanites or others.

What is so funny. You could do this. Make a bunch of these, go to the fancy place in town and sell Kellory's Kampfires for $15 each. You should start production now because camping season is almost here.

This is funny, there are people out there with more money than sense. A few weeks ago I was watching the local news and saw a story about a new company that would let you rent chickens for eggs. Here is what the cost was and the items you can get from them.

I was talking to a friend of mine about ways people make money in my opinion wierd ways. I just couldnt believe to think that people would do this for that much money.

 

@yeti695 that is insane, rent chickens???? I am going to laugh and smile at that because that is really sad.

 

$500.00 for three months of DIY eggs? Yes ma'am, that's nuts.

 

If we went all the way down the rabbit hole of screwy things that some people are prepared to spend good money on, renting some chooks might seem quite reasonable by comparison. I might be prepared to slaughter and eat the layers once they ceased to be reliable layers....but then again I don't subscribe to Peter Singer's views on animal welfare, others might find it a little too squeamish for their liking so, they may go the rental route to assuage their conscience...I can sleep easily with the thought of neck chopping a chicken or two...some can't...they are probably best left to buy their eggs from the supermarket and close their minds to the conditions under which those eggs were produced.

 

I know when I heard that I looked it up and was like WOW. First thought who would do this. Then I thought why didnt I think of this. My wife was like we could do that, I said that we live in a rural area, most have chickens and the ones that dont for whatever reason, more than likely get eggs from a family member or friends. We give away eggs to out neighbors about every 2 weeks. Most are older people that cant do it anymore. We dont sell many of them.

 

You can't eat them, chello, they are rental chickens. All you get is the work, the mess, and the eggs. (Along with the bill)

 

But you also get the reward of telling your soccer mom friends that you are raising chickens. Between the portable campfire and rental chickens, I can honestly say as a society we are circling the bowl.
