I may be transporting some long arms between two states by air... I am picking them up.. Any suggestions... I'm considering taking a case with me a varying my EDC in it so I have no issues with a Carry piece... Is there any issue with carrying ammo in the same case? Thanks for your input.....

    edit: Sorry from phone...

I can get 2-3 depending on size and optics on the and still have room for pistols and ammo.

Most airlines limt you to 12-13 lbs of ammo so tell them at the counter you have one box and it the orig factory carton.

Buy the best Master locks you can afford.
I have these but I am not sure of the length

If you have a NRA membership you have $10,000 in theft protection and ypu can buy more at a resonable price.

What is required: Locking, Hard sided, Case.... UnLoaded, Declare to Airlines, Ammo needs to be in Factory Boxes, or suitable Fixed Containers, NOT in Magazines.... Only YOU, can have the Key to the Case Lock... TSA can require you to Demonstrate, that the Firearm is Unloaded, and Ammunition is in Factory, or Secure Storage Packaging, NOT in Magazines... TSA can NOT Touch, or Handle, the FireArm, OR the Ammunition, by Federal Statutes, and their OWN Regulations. They can NOT open the Case, outside YOUR Presents, by Federal Statute and their OWN Regulations. If there is a question, TSA calls the local Airport LEOs to deal with YOU, on any handling or Inspection Issues, that might come up. All TSA is allowed to do, is LOOK, and either Allow, or NOT Allow, the Case, or Bag, on the Aircraft.... Period.... You can have a HandGun, Rifle, and or Shotgun all in the same Locking Case, along with their Ammunition, in Approved or Factory Containers. There can be NO Tags, or Identifying Stickers on the Outside of the Case, or Bag, that Shows, or States, that a Firearm is contained, inside, by Federal Statue....

When I travel, I put my Browning HiPower, in a Locking Pistol Case, inside one of my Checked Baggage Items. It is Unloaded, with two empty Magazines, and two Factory Boxes of Ammunition, inside the case along with my Shoulder Rig for CC.... I inform the Airline Baggage Agent when checking that Bag, that there are FireArms, inside... They have me sign the Form, that my Firearm is Unloaded, and I put that, inside the Checked Bag, the the agent takes the checked Bag to TSA, where they Xray the Bag, and run a Chemical Screening on the Inside of the Bag, in my presents, and if nothing, out of the ordinary shows up, on those tests then the Bag goes down the Baggage Chute. I have had to Open the Case, for TSA, only Once in 30 years, in Austin, TX... and I filed a Complaint, with TSA, over that incident. (Long Story posted on here, previously)

Not a big hassle if you do it right in the First Place....

A few years ago I saw a locking gun case that was made to look like a golf bag.
    Seemed Mike a good idea.
