Many American preppers have MRE's as part of their food prepping arrangements. What follows is a selection of combat ration packs from around the world, with a hint of the dietary tastes and fancies that are reflected in them.

My choice for the best of all ration packs (provided that I didn't have to eat it every day for several months) would be the basic French ration pack, plus the alcohol from the Italian rat-pack, the tube of vegemite from the Aussie rat-pack, and the several condoms that seem to comprise most of the Spanish rat-pack. ;) Can you guess the army's nationality by its ration pack?

I find Pinterest a useful reference resource for some research, but it requires quite a lot of self discipline, else it's too easy to drown in a quicksand bog of mindlessly impulsive browsing.

The Estonian meal looks nice, and the empty cans could be handy.

The condoms in the Spanish kit might not be condoms, but if they are be sure and boil them for at least 30 minutes as they are very tough, and make a good chewing gum substitute...Oh wait...make mine a triple Spanish. "Ola senorita..."

Only the Canadians could make a dessert from Bear Paw.

It's a wonder that bears are not endangered species in Canada. ;)

I want a firken Cordial in my ration's! In 1969 I had to live on "C" rations manufactured in 1943! Should have tasted the cigarettes! o_O

I'm surprised that the French and Italian versions don't include a large white napkin that can also be used as a flag.

No need to....they can share the white napkins from the German, Danish, and Estonian ration packs ;)

Does anyone know of a gluten-free MRE seller/producer? I have some celiac members to prep for.

It may be easier and cheaper to make your own gluten free MRE ratpacks. For most menu items there are civilian equivalents...that you can put together from Costco etc. It just won't have that milspec brown wrapped look.

Thanks for your input. We have stored MH and Costco goodies, but was just curious if purpose built glutenfrre MRE's had hit the market yet. BTW, Costco has gluten free buckets with twenty year shelf life vegetables soup; white rice as well. Unfortunately there isnt any brown rice.

Each there own. They compare with beans for food utility. Add a little pepperoni, maybe some jerky or leftover grilled meat, and they make a fine stew.

To be in a shelter with my family eating beans?!!!!! I'll take a lethal dose of gamma any day! :DJoking aside, beans are great, but we try hard to store what everybody will be able to eat; and prefer to eat. My better half hates beans, I love them.....guess who wins that argument?

I only eat oats uncooked, they have the most food value then.
I've proven it to my self several times.
