Doesn't how much. With new pieces selling for low prices (~450$), why would I want surplus - made mostly of mixed parts?

Considering Obummers demand that the U.S. Arsenals be cleared out of older arms, and the arms be destroyed, this has proven that not all of Obummers orders are being followed! It's also part of OUR heritage to make surplus military arms available to the public AS it was intended! Interesting that the CMP is getting shippments in FINALLY, and so it's a good idea to get what ever you might need now, before SHTF and you cant get them!

10/15/16 An update on the 1911’s…

The CMP is NOT authorized to receive or disburse the 1911s at this point. We have not yet received the approval required from the Secretary of the Army by the legislation.

    Thank you,

I want one because, frankly, that is a sexy damned firearm! I am aware of one that is circa-1936 (yes, 80 years old) that is a damned workhorse even today. Thousands of rounds through it and it, just, works.

Actually, an Arsenal Referb would be well worth the $1200 or so price tag! A worn but serviceable WW-II issue M1911 is valued at least that much and some of the more rare, lesser known manufactures can command well over twice that! Still, It's not for every one!

Indeed, and it's subjective I suppose. For myself, I am not a collector, just practical. But I would love to own at least one of these because they aren't just collectors pieces, they are very functional!

If you could get one the Navy had, chances are, it was rarely fired, even though it might have been carried a lot.

I would love the chance to get an original Issue M1911 from just about any era, especially the Delta Elites we had been issued back in the 90's!!!

Unless the CMP program drastically changes, it isn't likely to happen. Not a rifle, not .22 or .30 cal.

    Although I wouldn't mind getting another...or two.
