Chicks, the fuzzy feathery kind, not the babes.
Arrived this AM, from Meyer Hatchery.
Ordered 40 sexed hens, and 10 straight run, 52 arrived all healthy.
USPS tracking sux, they were shipped Monday the 5th, they had one entry stating they were transferred to UPS on the 1st, then they had them arriving yesterday morning and out for delivery last night...
Here they are, I'm going to be selling free range/organic/fertile/non GMO etc eggs!

Edited to add: I rotated this 90 deg on my computer, why didn't it upload that way?

They double as SHTF protein, both eggs and fried chicken. Shhh don't tell them that.

If you are hungry, will you be watching your diet?

Left over from my quail and chukar breeding days, I also have 3 GQF incubators, hard to sell locally, shipping prices them out of sight of most people.

Ha! I actually looked up chukar to learn it is a partridge. Never knew. :) Those incubators are nice ones. It would be worth the trip to pick them up if you sold them.

Outstanding!! Are you going to get certified organic or just sell by word of mouth.

As I understand the Organic nomenclature, the FDA won't bother with you until you have more than 3,000 animals to make the certification worth their while. I will have the feed receipts, and anyone that wants can inspect, can come by and check it out, basically to be organic your feed cannot have any animal by-products in it and no pesticides used in growing the grain. The majority of their feed during egg laying season will be pastures planted in organic grains, i.e. they will not only be free range but that is where they will get the majority of their food.

chickens love to run around and eat, my grandmother let her's run free and then put them in the pen at night. they were free range and organic.... lol before that term meant anything

AZ's are in brooders atm and later he will prolly let em roam. Free Range means they don't stand in a 12x24" pen with 6 other birds, have their bills and wings clipped

I'm not sure what you mean, is freerange not organic, I mean Jungle Chickens, who are the ancestors of all domestic chickens, ate everything that grows in a jungle... weren't they organic? I don't plan to spray the grasses and wheat, rye, oats which will be non-GMO with insecticides, actually I want the chickens to eat every last one of the grasshoppers that attack my tomatoes, and dig in the dirt and eat the earthworms etc.

Actually Chukars are an easy to raise meat bird, I don't know why they haven't caught on in the backyard farms, they don't make a lot of noise, and you could clip one wing so they won't fly away, I'm not sure how they would do without a cage with a net over the top of it, hawks seem to like to eat them...

If you feed them any CORN / Soya , then they are not GMO free !!!
We buy all our oats & feed from a GMO free supplier to be certified organic on the Angus & birds , pigs etc.

Yes I realize that almost all Soy is GMO, which is the main ingredient in animal feeds to bring up the protein content, something like 98% of Soybean meal is from GMO soybeans, I will be getting my organic feeds from WA, it is also available in our local feed stores. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't almost 100% of all our wheat non-GMO due to the amount of wheat that we export? (I just looked it up, GMO wheat is not yet being grown except in experimental patches)

USA has GMO wheat in some areas & it was kicked out in Canada because of this :

Many farmers have subsequently, quite literally, lost their farms.
Percy Schmeiser of Saskatchewan, Canada, was also a victim of Monsanto's vile ways.
Schmeiser worked on farming and developing his own seeds for 50 years, and when his fields were contaminated, Monsanto threatened him, intimidated him, and tried to take his land away.
But Schmeiser refused to give in, and eventually beat them in court.

Good read in the link to view.
Im glad a few country's around the world are kicking the USA CORP food control out .Most of europe has had enough.
I have had enough of the constant CEM Trail planes, even now in winter there out in full force , if you get a clear day.
