Would it be to much to ask AX, for a combined weight. Individual items might even be better if we shall all have a combined pool in the think tank. JMHO.

All up, I think it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 45...it's not my kit, though I am having influence on it. So, I don;t have it all in front of me to weigh...

Being the Oldest, Weakest, most experienced member of MY CLAN, 45 lbs is a two man load. We have either got to find some lower weight corresponding items, or start trimming off the pork. JMHO for what it's worth.

Much depends on where they are, how long they anticipate being refugees, season, physical conditioning...and what are the manuals?
I'd want more than one canteen...

Eating irons, Cook spoon, a plate, roll of TP, I'd add an aeropress because I don't like to chew my coffee. [winkthumb]

    Suggestions on trimming?

SE USA. Unknown refugee time, expecting maybe months, slightly better than average conditioning, 3 season base kit.

Drop the yoyos, this isn't a game and they aren't Bruce Lee.
Replace the alcohol stove with one that uses sticks, leaves, etc. forget the whiskey.
SE USA...better have a bunch of DEET, too.

A wet bandana could replace the gas mask... But, 45# isn't that much in a back pack.. Are you counting the pistol and survival rifle in the weight?

I thought I was...might need to add 10 to that. Ballparking. Wish I could better answer.

Yoyos are a spring loaded fishing reel/trap.

I'm a PF Flyer kid, I want to run faster and jump higher than anyone else on the block! 45 lbs ain't going to make me a "Happy Camper" at the end of the month.

I would rid my self of all the cooking iron and canteen cup. I use Two of the little Stainless M.S.R. cook pots 1 is the 2 cup version, and the bigger one is the 2 quart. Nice and light, they nest together, can also stuff things between the two, and they bever wear out or go bad, and being stainless, they don't promote mold or other contaminant. I also use a Jet boil 2 quart cook pot/beverage maker as it's very light, make coffee with the french press mod kit, can nest my M.S.R. Wisperlight international, and combined it is a complete system that weighs in a few oz less then most combo cook sets. I use the Light My Fire brand folding plates and bowls, as they weigh nothing and fold flat for easy storage, and they hold up extreamly well an are very easy to clean. I would also loose the extra clothes, and the yoyo's and find a way to distribute the ammo so that if something happens to the BoB, you still have some with/on you. and I would remove the firearms from the BoB once you actually need to use it, and carry them separately on your person! Following this should about halve the all up weight of your set up! Mine in a internal frame back pack with a lot more food comes in at 54 pounds with no guns or ammo, but mine can keep me set for several weeks, limited only by the amount of food I have!

By the end of the month all the food will be gone, pack will be lighter. And, I would suspect that if you haven't reached your BOL by day 2, then you are in trouble.

I can see dry socks, but you will get to your BOL tired and smelly anyway..

30 days "Outside the wire" isn't even a LRP or LRRP. ( Please google the acronyms if they are unfamiliar.)

OK, but I thought what we were trying to determine was a pack for Bugging Out. Did that criteria change somewhere?

Can't see even considering being out for 30 days to get to a safe place.

    Unknown time?

Perhaps your concepts (underlined) and my past experiences are not in alignment?

I would assume (and that may be a mistake) that Axes has a predetermined BOL. If not, he is bugging out to nowhere or to somewhere he has not scouted. If this is the case, that he is headed into the unknown then a discussion of what is in his pack is a waste of time.

Depends on the reasons for bugging out? Maybe he will clarify so we can get a better feel for what he needs.

Main reason for bugging out: it ain't likely that you are going to survive where your at to start the trip. JMHO.
