Ah yes what did we do before truth in labeling, I guess people with milk allergies just did not stray far from the bathroom.
And who knew there was milk products in bread crumbs, except that you use milk to make bread, or at least some breads.

We had something like that where I work last year.
Had to idiot proof bulk 20kg powdered whey packaging.
By adding a "product of milk" stamp to the bags.
Seriously what idiot doesn't know what whey comes from? If you're that stupid you deserve what you get.

Why does the article tell consumers who bought the products not to consume them and throw them away or return them to the place of purchase? Sheesh.... If you don't have a milk protein allergy then I would suspect there is no problem. Now it the product contained Warfarin, that would be different.

Whew! Glad there's no real safety issue. I eat a lot of Chef Boy Ardee stuff. Love it. It's not bad cold from the can, if I don't feel like dirtying a bowl or heating.

Thanks for posting this info. Incredibly this wasn't in the LA Newspapers nor did I see any mention of this till your post. While I haven't eaten it since I was a kid, though I did like it, how long does it store for and what is the average cost of its can of Spaghetti and Meatballs off the top of your head?

Quite a few years, standard canned food storage rules apply. It does have tomato sauce, so it's not one of the longest lasting types of canned foods. I rotate Chef Boyardee every 3 years, but 5 would be okay, too. I believe the cost is around 2/$1 when you catch the sales, or near .80 cents per can and up to $1 per can on average. They are nice for an "addon" to staple foods to give some variety and for mid day snacking.

I remember years ago, they had a recall there because some idiot lost his finger. Imagine that compared to this recall where they didn't add "contains milk" to the label. There are lots of folks with food allergies today thanks to toxic GMO foods, but I'm keeping mine.

Nobody seems surprised that there are bread crumbs, or bread crumb byproducts in spaghetti, especially "canned" spaghetti, I could see it being used as a condiment... but in a can, wouldn't it just add to the mush factor?

SOMEbody must be surprised, otherwise the Great Protector in dot gov would not feel the need to recall the product. The recall order came from dot gov for failure to "properly" label the product as containing potential allergens.

I wonder when it will occur to the Great Protector to force warnings on the cans about sharp edges when opening them ---

Y'all do realize that there are no "old people I know with allergies" because they probably died from non-labeled food, right? Show a little respect.

Gotta wonder how many deaths have come up from overuse of printing chemicals with all those warnings. Also have to wonder how one can become full grown without knowing they are allergic and be aware of what they should avoid. Respect for what? The nanny state's looking out for sheep?

Or, quite possibly, those old folks you know that are still alive learned early on what allergies they have, and stay clear of the allergen.

It is purely a labeling issue ,much like for those that are allergic to peanuts, and manufacturers must include information that their foods are processed with machinery that processes peanuts as well, not that peanuts are necessarily put in the product deliberately.
Some people actually read the labels of things they buy, to see that they are not getting things they wish to avoid.
If there were a danger so far as spoiled food that would be mentioned, and seen as the can would balote/bulge .
Some things are Irradiated to kill any bacteria after packaging to prevent contamination and spoilage.
Though it's done, it may not be advertised.
All your MRE's are irradiated , as well as most all medical implants I know of.
Now if I had lots of money, having that kind of treatment for my canning and food storage would be awesome .

Respect for all the people that died without those warnings...

I had no idea you used milk to make bread.

How do those that didn't see nor learn about their allergies deserve any more respect than those that died from the bubonic plague? Logic fail.

And see, it is possible that knowledge is not universal.
