Interesting poems, but I prefer Mathew 16:26 and think that has much more meaning at this time of the year. Merry Christmas to all.

Yes, indeed, Merry Christmas to you all. Actually, this is my 3rd Christmas since I've been back and certainly starting off to be the best as currently snowing, woodstove fire shining bright, niece called me from far off distant lands, and Trump and crew just cut the UN budget by $285M and in celebration I've dosed the morning tea with a large dollop of Bailey's... "God bless us, every one!"

And, for those, like me, that don't know @duane 's reference to Matthew 16:26 "What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?" Or, "what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" I think very appropriate for a day like today but also appropriate the entire year.

 

Sorry about that my dad and granddad always did that, quote a verse and make me look it up and read it for myself. I don't know if it was their trick to get me to read the Bible, or get reading it and continue to read the "rest of the story" as Mr Harvey always said.

LOL! I knew exactly what you were doing as that was exactly what was done to me all the time as a child! LOL! For spelling or definition of words...always. And, it helped as I would then have to look them up in the dictionary and it helped to remember them. Later in life, I used the exact same method on my niece when she started to learn English and within two years she was damn near fluent - well - she certainly speaks better English than I do Russian. So, no problem, duane and now I know Matthew 16:26...which is a nice present for Christmas day. Merriest of Christmases to you and yours!
