That is unacceptable. This is no small whoops. That false alert could have caused heart attacks, accidents etc. Someone is going to be held accountable on this.

False positive message would be the biggest and first issue.

People of Hawaii have been told and know that they have 10 minutes from notice to strike. Ten minutes is a very short time in everyday life but 10 minutes when you are facing death is a very long time. In those ten minutes, many lives I am sure changed.

Completely unacceptable in all respects! No one person should have complete access to the warning system, there should be fail safes in place so that some dumb ass mid level functionary cannot "accidentally activate it while carrying his $9.00 gov subsidized Coffee! Just think if the Mil. operated on such a corruptible system, there would be birds flying all over the world by now and we would be breathing our last! SOME ONE NEEDS TO THINK ABOUT THAT LITTLE FACT!!!!
I would imagine the folks in Hawaii are super pissed right now ( as I would be) and I would hope no one got hurt or worse, but I'm probably wishing out loud, i'm sure some folks got hurt, and then there is the mental anguish of "living" under such a fallable system!
Of note here as well; the early warning system is linked to the tsunami alarm, so how would one know which threat of destruction to respond to?!?!? that needs to be addressed country wide! Here in OryGun, the "System" uses the same exact alarm!!!
Some Heads need to roll on this one, BIG TIME!!!!! This was inexcusable!

Certainly should be, but I have my doubts that some singular person or two will be found truly at fault. There will a scapegoat or three, for sure. What will be more interesting in the long haul is whether there was a criminal act that caused the balloon to go up.

I agree a bad deal, but...a GOOD teaching moment and maybe a few more woke up citizens realizing life is fragile. This from an oldawg who watched the B36s and later the B52s going overhead outbound and the duck and cover drills when only after the teachers all clear did we know it was a drill. Life could be tense at times for 6-10 year olds or even a 16 year old lad in say Oct. 1962.

Vern Miyagi the administrator of the HI Emergency Management Agency accepted responsibility in a statement** .. the HI-EMA workers involved have not been identified

Not related to the fictional Mr. Miyagi in The Karate Kid movies

    Come on....
There were probably no more than 8 people during shift change. Not a difficult thing to figure out.

The alert is a controlled test to see what kind of terror the government can inflict with this sort of thing....shady as hell

I just read that it took 38 minutes for them to say false alarm. The panic those people must have felt. I watched a video of a father lowering his daughter into the sewer. The officials are saying they are going to retrain the guy that accidentally sent out this alert. IMO, throw the guy out in the street and let the citizens have at the guy. This guy has an extremely important position, live depend on it. I also think HI needs to have a two button system so this error does not happen again.

This is not a training thing .!!
    THINK ABOUT IT !!

I had high classification at the Hydro Bunker , Control power to western NA .
We have many buttons , but NOT one !! MANY to turn off power to USA down to California grid ..

JUST to put on a live line caution we had paper work so we didn't fry anyone , or freeze anyone !!

And NO one works by themselves , team of 2 plus with both signing is the least .
This smells shady & fake story .
Even 911 calls are all recorded & monitored .

The Island is a test area , Same as the one Im on . They test fuel types (so they can see if it has a bug) pricing & taxes .

Approx. 8.05 a.m.: A routine internal test during a shift change was initiated. This was a test that involved the Emergency Alert System, the Wireless Emergency Alert, but no warning sirens.

8.07 a.m.: A warning was erroneously triggered statewide by an employee at the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (HI-EMA).

8.10 a.m.: State Adjutant Maj. Gen. Joe Logan validated with the US Pacific Command that there was no missile launch.

Honolulu Police Department notified of the false alarm by HI-EMA.

8.13 a.m.: State Warning Point issues a cancellation of the Civil Danger Warning Message. This would have prevented the initial alert from being rebroadcast to phones that may not have received it yet. For instance, if a phone was not on at 8.07am, it would not receive the alert later on.

8.20 a.m.: HI-EMA issues public notification of cancellation via their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

8.24 a.m.: Governor Ige retweets HI-EMA’s cancellation notice.

8.30 a.m.: Governor posts cancellation notification to his Facebook page.

8.45 a.m.: After getting authorization from FEMA Integral Public Alert and Warning System, HI-EMA issued a 'Civil Emergency Message' remotely, canceling the false alert.

The following action was executed by the Emergency Alert System (EAS):

    1. EAS message over Local TV/Radio Audio Broadcast & Television Crawler Banner.
“False Alarm. There is no missile threat to Hawaii.”
“False Alarm. There is no missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii. Repeat. There is no
missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii. False Alarm.”

    2. Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA)
“False Alarm. There is no missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii.”

9:30 a.m.: Governor makes initial media notification.

9:34 a.m.: Governor’s message posted to his Facebook and Twitter accounts.

These notifications went out via phone but officials said false alarm on their FB and twitter accounts? If I had 10 minutes to live, I really do not think I would be on my FB page. Are people that shallow? Ten minutes to impact and people should be checking their twitter feed? Garbage!

I am going with @sloth on this one. This stinks and beginning to think it was a test, false alarm on purpose. Trump did not tweet about it. His silence is really suspicious.
