Now I'm out in the country but there are still some people around.
One person that boarders my land says he gets the cops called on him anytime he shoots. I'm pretty sure it wasn't from my house, found a ton of shot up cans and junk, mostly 9mm and 38 or 357 rounds, some shotgun and a little .223, those calls probably didn't originate from my place, from the last guy.
So might as well be neighborly.
Back around 2009 to 2012 I got threaded barrels on most everything that I could get a threaded barrel for.
Now it's time to finish it.
I'm getting a good first timers screw on gemtech can for 22lr then will probably get an internally suppressed gemtech 22lr rifle barrel, then some center fire pistol cans from there.
Then hopefully an M203 by the end of the year, incase shit gets weird.
    What's your take on NFA?
I'm already in the system, was active duty for 11 years reserves for 3, renewed my security clearance a few years back. I am already very well known to the .gov

Yup! Get them all while you can, no telling if/when they are going to go away, might as well enjoy them while you can! Plus, being neighborly is never a bad thing!
Fun switch stuff dosnt interest me, but other NFA items do, luckiy I have taken advantage of the ability to get what I wanted, so I'm pretty much all set!

Go fast is just too expensive to be realistic. I had a Thompson a long time ago, 30 sec of fun and an hour to reload. Suppressors on the other hand... .

We call the Sheriff before we start shooting machine guns, and then after we get done. They're obligated to send a patrol car out to check on us every time somebody calls them. This saves them the trip. Other than that the only trouble I've had at the range was with guys who didn't understand what made a SBR, or just how to measure a shotgun barrel. One was a beautiful job on a 870. Looked great...but the barrel was 14" long with no tax stamp.

Putting an airsoft sliding stock on a GSG5 .22 pistol makes it an SBR. The Sheriff did not approve it, he just said he didn't care what you did with an airsoft gun.

Double action revolvers are fast enough for me... and I don't have to chase my brass.

I'm pretty sure they aren't going anywhere.

As far as I can tell they haven't come up on any federal or state anti gun bs lately.
Only changes I have seen is where a few states are trying to make them legal or expand uses such as into hunting.

That's the biggy for me, expanded use/availabiity of suppressor and SBRs
I discoverd the expanded suppressor stamp and it actually saves money if you build more then 3 per 1 year period. Less then 3 and your spending more then the $200 per unit! This is the last time I do this, but I now have suppressor for every thing I would ever want a can mounted to. Wish they would do the same with the SBRs, that would save me some serious coin!

Although there are some Title II items I wouldn't mind having, I will not support the regime with taxes on a right...

    ...but that's just me... ;)

@oil pan 4 "Then hopefully an M203 by the end of the year"
Let me show my ignorance here, you are going to purchase a grenade launcher for your AR? I'm stunned as didn't know that we could even purchase such a thing. Where and how do you purchase 40mm grenades - I mean - are the grenades a controlled item also?

I was hoping they would allow suppressors to be sold over the counter as remember reading it was being considered. Has that failed?

As far as the NFA...We are all recorded a dozen ways to Sunday anyway. Like you, my days of holding a security clearance documents every aspect of my life from damn near birth until 2016. But, even without that, after living stateside for 3 years, my personal details are everywhere even though I try to keep a low profile and under the radar.

That's the truth. Everything you do is recorded somehow and there is no anonymity regardless of what you may think. Even if there isn't the current capability for you to be identified it will happen shortly - it's a lot like DNA evidence being used years after a crime that happened before we had the technology.

I also agree with others above that SBR's and can's to be the most useful NFA items. My Class 3 Mini 14 still up for sale for those looking for a machine gun: For Sale - Transferable Ruger Mini-14 Machine Gun For Sale

A dealer may be "Class 3" but not the weapon. It is likely Title II.

I have one weapon that is a tripple stamp NFA. SBR Carbine with Suppressor, and a SBR Shotty mounted under the barrel! Pretty slick, but that was $600 in stamps! Ugggggg.

I would like to purchase a SBR (or build one) and a couple of suppressors in the near future but currently just don't have the time to go thru all the BS and learn the procedures. All I can hope for is they don't make severe changes to the NFA in the new regulations.

They have made the process easier. The dealer I have says thy will submit any form 1 paper work I do for free.
Since you can get a 22lr can for $200 to 300 I can't really even say it's worth building your own, at least for 22lr. If you have a lathe and want to make your own center fire can that might be worth it since a good center fire 30 cal can will typically start at 600.

The 40mm weapon is a title 2 destructive device. Grenade rounds that aren't explosive are just regular ammo.

My stamp came in a month ago for my M203. It's counts as a Destructive Device since it's 40mm and HE rounds are DD's by themselves, but I bought a hundred GI orange chalk training rounds, thirtyfive green smoke marking rounds, and twentyfive riot control baton rounds. I can fire it underbarrel mounted or in a standalone buttstock mount.

When did a 203 become NFA? I may have had one in the eighties that I may have sold.

the 40mm may be because it can fire the grenade. I know they make a 37mm one that only fires flares that is not NFA. They also sell reloading kits for it which is interesting.

The M203 grenade launcher was designated a DD (Destructive Device) since it didn't meet the "sporting use" criteria set by GCA68. Because there are naughty projectiles available for it, and because it has a rifled bore larger than one half inch in diameter. (Rifling being necessary for both accuracy and to arm the explosive projectile at a safe distance by imparting a spin.)

37mm smooth bore launchers are just large single shot cannons, so as long as their projectiles don't go boom, they are acceptable to the Feds.
