I made gas prices largely obsolete

I have a diesel truck and car trailer so no need to call a tow.
I will probably also install a flat tow rig just incase. All of our other vehicles are setup to tow a trailer, my 1989 firebird with six speed, 5.7L and corvette brakes it tows pretty good for a car it could easily pull a 3,300lb car doing a brake regen and my wifes 3.3L Hyundai does well too. And the suburban, would tow a leaf like it's not even back there.

If I'm in the next town over I can charge on 240v power at my rental house.

 

I love my Hybrid! It burns Gas, Oil, and copious amounts of rubber at the slightest touch of my right foot and slip of the clutch! Minted in 1970, and has more power then 5 Nissan Leaf's, has about the same range too! LOL! I always joke, I can pass any thing but a tanker truck!

 

About two years ago a friend of my bought a used Ford Focus Electric for ~$11k and drives it ~ 60 miles every day with no problems.

 

Yeah I barely paid half that, cash.

 

Well, maybe they have small semi-trucks in Switzerland? In the US, the trucks I drove, upon impact, would turn a 1980 Cadillac Fleetwood into a sub-compact.

 

Just think, you're not paying fuel taxes, most of which obviously aren't spent on roads and bridges and not giving money to greedy oil companies or Saudi rag heads.

Have put my children through school, bought all their 1st cars, bought my ex a 350k house and a new(back then) Tundra.
Bought this place here and a 1,000 acre ranch up in Colorado

Nothing wrong with that, but times are a changing.
If Saudi Arabias economy keeps growing like it has they could stop exporting oil in as little as 8 to 10 years and may have to start importing oil in as little as 20 years.

 

I want one of the diesel VW station wagons made in Alabama that get 75 miles per gallon.
Uncle Fudpucker won't allow these to be sold in the US, Claim it's due to emissions.

I still wonder what the hell they are goin to do with all those V.W.s I want a few of those nice diesel engines, would love to do one for an airplane, cut the fuel burn way the hell down from where it currently is! My latest Lycoming sucks the Arab teet to the tune of 12 gallons of 100 A.A. per hour at best cruise! and climb sucks it up at 19 gallons! Even at half, I'm still above where it should be! But it's FUN as all get out!

Yup I bought an old VW diesel hatchback with a blown engine for a work car. Had less than 500 bucks into it with a junkyard engine I rebuilt and 4 new tires. Got an honest 53 MPG in Denver area traffic.Loved that little workhorse. Sold it to a college kid when I sold the shop and took my show on the road.

 

As far as I can tell, VW made a proper diesel car through at least 2004.
That was the latest one I have actually worked on.

 

Buddy of mine is a hard core W.V. fan, he especially loves collecting the odd ball camper vans and 4 door pickups. He has always swapped in the Diesels, including a couple of "Things" he has had. He fixes one up, drives it around for a whole then sells it for a YUGE profit! We started in on a Schwimwagon a few years ago, put one of the 5 cylinder turbo diesels together with a Westphalia transaxle and front end, don' know if he ever got it finished, but it would be a super cool toy to have! The diesels make awesome sand buggies too!
