(New law limits toilet flushes, showers in California)

A new law passed in California will soon limit the number of gallons of water a person is allowed to use per day.

By 2022, residents in California will be limited to 55 gallons per person, per day. In 2013, the number of gallons used is expected to fall to 50.. (must be a typo in this)

Note to frog - the water is starting to boil......

Well there is an issue with flushing a toilet, if there is not enough water the line will stack up with fecal matter and if you use a garbage disposal if you do not use enough water that will get hung up it is science the amount of solids water to take it away and how many feet to the main. I figure flush toilets are going to be illegal and we will use by law water-less / dry flush / composting toilets.

well, if you capture the water from the bath/shower you can use a bucket worth of grey water to get a big dump down.

Can you imagine what that would do to the sewer system?

I use to live on the desert and had to haul all my water in,so I naturally am very conservative that and i'm a cheapskate . Any kitchen sink water goes in my garden ,toilet water goes in the septic tank .
I shower once a week 3-4 gallons at best .
I admit during the summer in 100 degree weather I use more water for critters and garden, but as for my self I can be very conservative. Laundry is done once a month .
Hey I live alone ,I can do as I please.

My town charges by the "unit" of water, with one unit equaling 750 gallons. In a typical month, without having to irrigate my vegetable garden, I use ONE unit of water. That's flushing, bathing, washing clothes & dishes, etc. Comes out to 25 gallons per day, average. And that's not even taking "Navy showers" (where you wet down, turn the water off, soap up, turn the water back on, rinse, and turn it off, for maximum water savings).

If you need more than 55 gallons, per day, per person, you're not doing it right, imho.

The average Water Use for Fed ,GOV Specs in Potable Water System design was 75USG per Person, per Day... Has been for many years... All our Potable Water Systems were designed on that Spec.... and we ARE an EPA Inspected Water System....

California is limiting flushes to prevent the citizens from flushing all the Brown away after he retires later this year.
