I just did an order from Walmart also. I compared prices vs. Amazon and Walmart was cheaper & two day delivery. Those are big boxes.

Noticed something here yesterday i was self checking out and several things rang up significantly cheaper then the sticker price , later I went through a the check out line and the same thing .
The store is both widening the isles and altering the sales floor and more employees , some weird stuff is gong on ..

I got a "commercial duty" shelf from Sam's Club. I have bought these units before and they're good.
I tried mail ordering one and FedEx beat the hell out of it and the shelves didn't want to sit right. But I was able to fix it with a hammer.
I'm just going to go get these from the store from now on.

That don't ship ammo, so we are limited to food.

Either something fresh (picked bush of green beans yesterday), or something frozen, or something home canned or some combination of those.

Got 45 of these that will start processing next week.

Got lettuce, cabbage, carrots, broccoli growing now in the hoop house:

Plenty of potatoes and apples in the root cellar. Will be digging sweet potatoes next week ahead of colder weather coming.

Don't beat yourself up.....what I show is a 'work in progress' over 30 years.....some of it still isn't in place. LOT of it has come about in the last 10 years.....the hoop house, the root cellar, the solar power system, the room on the back of the garage for meat processing......10 years ago, none of that was here....we were too busy working to pay off the place the first 10 years, then busy with jobs/life the next ten (though a lot DID get done in those first 20.....just not quite as obvious). The 'seeds' were planted in the first 20, the 'crops' started to mature in the last 10.

I often reply to folks reactions of our place by saying either:
    "We're 35 years into a 50 year plan"
    or
"My goal is for the NEXT guy not to have to work near as hard"

    :D

One thing that helped is many decades back, I made an actual list of areas (like food, fuel, money saved, etc) on a legal pad, and set a goal of 'so much' in each area. That gave me a definite number to try to hit. Looking at it from time to time really helped keep me on plan.

I like what you wrote @TnAndy lots of wisdom in your words. When I first started I rushed to get to the level of preparedness that I thought I should be at. I made lots of foolish, money wasting decisions. Now it is a slow, steady process to get to where I want to be. My mentor always reminds me to have patience.
