I recently bought a 9x13" HotLogic Portable Oven (Family Size) that goes for around $51 on Amazon that works great. They also sell the smaller size (One Person) MiniPortable Oven for $40. They Heat to a temperature of 166 degrees. I just made canned soup with it and it came out great. It takes around 45 minutes to an hour or so to make stuff like soup but you can leave whatever you put in the Oven for hours and it will stay at the same temperture and not burn. Picture is of the 9X13 unit. It works fine with my Portable Electric Generator (500 Watts, 288WH around $279) also pictured below. I got these on Amazon, If you want links let me know, I don't want someone to think I'm making money on Amazon as I stopped selling their items over 5 years ago,

    Hotlogicf. ElectricGenerator.

That "generator" is rather steep for a glorified battery pack. But technically it could work well for emergencies. But you'd need to be able to recharge the battery.
For emergency food heating, I have two sizes of "BaroCook" flameless food heaters - 28oz. rectangular and 38 oz. round styles. They use water activated chemical heater packs, to reach a temp of 180 to 200 F.
Works very well, needing about ten to fifteen minutes to heat and then wait til it stops steaming. Indoors safe.
    Available on Amazon.

35 bucks....any temp you want up to boiling for your altitude.

The HotLogic uses 100 watts, so a 288w/hr battery pack isn't going to last 3hrs use of it.

Looks to me like that battery pack will weigh more than Andy's Coleman. Hm. Can't check that without links ----

I think I'll stick with my flint and steel or matches.

I have that Baracook too but you need the chemical heater packs for it to work. If you run out, it won't. Not sure how it does for Soup but it worked fine for my "Campfire Meals" freeze dried food pack. You're correct the generator is a portable battery essentially. It is recharged by a Solar Panel or by AC output in your home assuming the power is working. It is also relatively quiet and doesn't use gas

It doesn't take more than an hour to cook.

If you have an endless supply of charcoal you're right and some place to barbecue where you won't be attacked cause they can see you eating outside when they have no food!

I usually like gadgets but something that takes 45 minutes to heat a can of soup would have been declared junk and returned. How much does that weigh? The power source is usable for other things but the insulated bag and slow warming is a negative IMO. I would have ate the soup cold.

I have the barocook system and that works fast and does not use smoke. I have been thinking and am going to try a hand warmers in the bottom to see if that works to heat. I think it will work fine.

Forget cooking pork if it maxes out at 166*F...

The active ingredient of manf flameless chemical heaters is sodalime. Available in bags at Tractor Supply Store. Probably not too difficult to make DIY heater packs.
I keep a stock of the BaroCook heaters though, in case of multiday power outtage.
I also have three charger bricks, 33,000mAH or so, to keep my smartphone charged. One got me through a four day power outtage after last year's hurricane.

Umm it is a 36" Blackstone flat top not a smoker. 36" Griddle Cooking Station with Accessory Side Shelf - Blackstone Products That would easily fit in yer BOB beside the battery pack and Big Screen TV :) Heck you could probably fit at least one 100# propane tank in if not two!

Sadly I have a very small BOB set up so the Zombies are gonna eat my brains :(

But I have a small shot at at escaping the hordes! And getting back to Civilization.

    Thunder Power.JPG

Course once back and secure doubt anyone of consequence would even find me....... let alone be seeing me eating outside :)

But if they did.............. Do you think they want to cross a crazy dude with a stuffed chicken?

And enough Weapons to start a small war?

    gun vault.

And the force and determination to keep what is mine?
    farmcrew.

And then there is my mind set in general.........
    hunt.

In all seriousness Ed Gadgets and Gizmos are neat but will never overcome a mental state and real hands on learned through application skill. That stuff you picture is just bulky clanky junk when all you should need is.........
    DSC00643.JPG
And the skills to wield it and use it to make everything else you need. Everything else is just a crutch to compensate for lack of skills or junk because you can afford it and like to play with it. That one tool = Water, Food, Fuel and Shelter. With it you can build other tools and more effective weapons like bows, spears......traps. Everyone gets way to hung up on all the things they believe they HAVE to have LOL.

Yeah I also have the baracook and have about 10-15 heat packs. I'm looking at this system (Hotlogic) which is very light for something that lasts for a long time in which case an hour to cook something is more than acceptable to me.

At that temperature you aren't "cooking", merely heating. As in, you will not be cooking raw meat. The BaroCook gets uncomfortably hot, even with the neoprene wrap, hotter than that electric heater, but it won't cook raw food.
Works great for canned soups and other "ready to eat" foods.
I had a temporary power outtage this morning, but luckily only a couple hours. Transformer outside on the pole blew.

Have 2 of these picked up used, near new condition off of craigslist. Maybe $30 each.

    CEEE2F17-26AD-4FAB-A6F1-C6164D73A37E.

Coleman grill with side burner. Both came with a griddle overlay as well. Work off the 1lb cans, or off a large tanks/tree. Always have one setup on the back deck off a propane tree for quick burgers/dogs and such.

Truck camping, the side burner is pretty handy.

    Doesn’t use much propane hardly.

New version is slightly different, with the burner on the left side I believe.

Aside from these we have a bunch of backpacker isobutane stoves, which pack small & an old Svea123 white gas.

Picked up a campchef propane oven as well. Footprint is about the same size as the Coleman grill pictured above, plus it has 2 burners up top. Haven’t had a chance to use it yet tho. Looks like such:

    03016117-830F-4504-8223-368F2EDC3334. M

Thinking I might make a heat insulation wrap out of ceramic fiber fabric & heavy gauge tinfoil, for if/when we take it camping in colder/windier weather. Have read the oven box is challenged to maintain decent consistent temps in such conditions. Makes sense, as it is a portable.

I am betting you will like the Campchef unit a lot once you start using it. I run one that is just the oven on the Chuck Wagon for heating rolls and garlic knots and keeping them warm. Small foot print unit that is easy on the gas and gets the job done. Also easy to clean and store.

    Good to hear, thanks!

Still debating wether to to take just this unit & fry (pan griddle) on the burners, or make space for the grill.

Suppose cargo space/packability will play a big role as well...as always. Due to its footprint, it will stow in the same spot as the grill. But they both won’t fit in that spot.

It takes 212 degrees to boil water.
No sense in a heating device for food that cannot boil water.
    secondly ,
Any company that abuses the term "generate" for something that is ONLY a "battery" is fraudulent. IMO
A battery does not generate (Manufacture), it stores generated power.
    False advertising is getting worse.
