Yet another Discovery channel show. It hasn’t been advertised as a reality based show.

You going to watch it? Six shows I brelieve

I’m not sure if I’ll watch. The pain I feel watching Alaskan Bush People is 9.75 out of 10. Alone on History is only slightly less. What America really needs is to see my brother and his sidekick Shawn. Beers go down the hatch around 5:30 am. It goes downhill quickly from there. :D

OK, more and more often I am totally in the dark about what is happening in TV, movie, and music world. Don't even watch enough to even guess about what is going on. Can only take so much of educated transsexual liberal female making big bucks at the woman's libs department of some college scream about the evil male world or what ever the cause of the day is. Don't even know what the show is, never bothered to watch it, may or may not be good, just don't pay attention any more. Live in NH, got a call from some polling place on who I am going to vote for in the primaries, said Trump, dead silence and then click and dial tone. Don't think that data entry will be on the 6 o'clock news. Proudly bring us all the news they are paid to present by their leftest masters. Good point is that it frees me up for more time on the monkey, playing in the greenhouse, building AR's and some the otherr things to do in the real world.

Fox News, BattleBots for sports, and some politically neutral documentaries here and there when they can be found.
I've watched the old westerns until they're worn out.
Used to watch that Alaskan Gold mining show until it became too scripted.
Even Fox News is beginning to gain a bit of a leftist slant.
    Busying myself with other things.

I'm with duane . I've just about had enough of the bullspit from this life of reality stars , movie stars , politicians , whiny assed college kids thinking they know what would make this world,,, perfect . If my body was in better shape , I'd be really tempted to walk off into the hills and pull a Jeremiah Johnson .

Why did the Archies have to break up? There's nothing worth watching anymore...

The premise is these galoots fix up old stuff and then "sell it to Preparers"

Reminds one of the "Fool and his money are soon parted" saw.

I'd rather see Junkyard Wars return - that had a couple of cool episodes.
junkyard airplane, what could go wrong....

Alaskan Bush People is so fake that a blind man can see through the facade. Ever read any real history on that bunch? Total frauds.
Much the same can be said about Life Below Zero. Its not as harsh as they make it out to me. Yukon Men was a bit better but they no longer produce it, evidently.
Been watching Alone. I guess the goal there is who can starve the slowest while not freezing to death or accidentally killing yourself. Not sure how I feel about it yet. People will endure a lot of misery for a lot less than $500Gs, as Naked and Afraid demonstrates.
The most realistic "survival" type show I think was Les Stroud. Guess he grew out of it, but he provided a lot of instruction along with its entertainment value.

The show is scripted, by folks from New York City, but the Family is real, and mostly, the personalities, are pretty much as depicted... Birdy has always been the best shot of the bunch... however Ami is a Deadeye shooter with her “Old Betsy” Six Gun.... AlaskaChick did a segment with her, Ami, Birdy, and Rainy shooting paper targets, that never made it to Air... AlaskaChick was using her Stainless .357Mag Dan Wesson with the 8” Barrel fitted.. Gabe is the best rifleman of the boys, with Bear & Mat tied for second, Josh, & Noah, are good, but not as good as the other three. Billy is to old, and has the shakes.. so he lets the boys do the shooting.. I still keep in touch with a couple of the boys, but they are moving on with their lives, these days..

What I would find interesting, BTPost, regarding the Alaska bunch is where the money came from for all the purchases of land, boats, and supplies over the years. After all the trouble of building on their island in Alaska they just walk off and leave all of it, give the boats away, and relocate first to Colorado and now to Washington. Is Mat the one with the long hair and glasses.. the one who spends his time lounging on a sail boat in the Caribbean when not shooting the show? SMH. They may all shot great, but the authenticity just isn't there these days.

The money came from the Production Company, and Discovery Channel, and from the shows Sponcers , ultimately ... Also Billy is a publish Author and has a Net Worth, as well as some of the Boys have their own Net Worth.... Many MSMNews have speculated what those Net Worths are, but I do not know.... They never owned the Land on Chicigoff Island,,, It was a 5 year Lease done by the Production Company and it had a BUYOut Clause that was NOT acted upon when they pulled out... The Boats were purchased and then sold off by the Production Company... The Colorado thing never got passed the Talking Stage, and the Family as I understand it Purchased the Washington Acreage outright, from proceeds that they got from the Production Company, from the previous 4 years...
The Brother with the Long Hair and Glasses is Joshua, (Bam Bam) the second Oldest Son... He and I correspond on occasion via eMail... He is a Professional Photographer, as well as has other business interests. I know Noah the best and had a lot of contact with him while they were in Alaska, near where I live. The show was NEVER about authenticity, from the Families point of view, that all gets done by the Production Company, out of the Park Slope neighborhood of New York City. I have met the Owner of the Show, as well as many of the Alaska Production people, of which many have moved on to other Productions. What you saw in the Alaska Productions was mostly a recreation of their previous life when they lived down by Prince of Wales Island... They sold their fish to a Company that I was Communication Supervisor for, back in the day... I have been semi-retired for a couple of decades, since then...
If you look around in the Comms forum here on the Monkey, and find the Thread "Path Survey" Path Survey on Sunday...... It documents a Job I did for the Production Company getting them some Comms between the Hoonah Production Office and the SaltLake Bay Site....

Thats all very interesting, BTP. I appreciate your response and candor. I had always wondered how the family could have gotten along just with bartering and refabing junk from the dump. I assume the two girls have a life away from the family and producing the show as well. 'Bear', OTOH, appears to be, ummm..... unique. *laugh*
