Text - H.R.5717 - 116th Congress (2019-2020): Gun Violence Prevention and Community Safety Act of 2020
Another Load of BS, conjured up by a Demoncrate, for public consumption by his base of snowflakes... It will go nowhere in the Senate, if it even makes it outof the House..
Well other than total registration, outlawing build your own, most semi auto's, 30 % ta on weapons, 50 % tax on ammo and ignoring the 2 nd Amendment totally, I can't see much wrong with it. Another one of those situations where their idea of heaven is my idea of hell. Always a good idea to arm the wolves and disarm the sheep, if you are a wolf. The only problem I see is that 90 % of what i see today as "sensible laws" would have been resisted to the death in 1945.
They're trying to slide this under the wire while everyone else is looking the other way. Just like Nancy trying to slip Green New Deal legislation and funding for unrelated things into the relief package a few weeks ago. Unfortunately she got away with some of it. Come November, it's time to clean House.
HR 5717 "To end the epidemic of gun violence and build safer communities by strengthening Federal firearms laws and supporting gun violence research, intervention, and prevention initiatives. A bill. To end the epidemic of gun violence and build safer communities by strengthening Federal firearms laws and supporting gun violence research, intervention, and prevention initiatives." Sounds good right, like it actually is going to try to make people safer right? Looks like every gun owner will be 21, licensed for guns and ammo, have some sort of training, a mental evaluation. Universal background checks, 7 day wait, secure gun storage laws, red flag law, silencer ban, assault weapons ban, stolen or lost gun reporting laws, make firearms manufacturers liable for their products, community gun violence programs. So about 90% of it is a gun grab with maybe 5% actually making people safer.
Ok then raise the minimum age for enlistment to 21. You know since people 18-20 can’t be trusted with guns. They start drafting these people’s kids into the military when we can’t get enough volunteers.
The dolt ignored the fact that those first time gun owners who are panic buying and causing record gun sales are his voting base. The people that vote "R" for the most part already have defensive weapons. Many of them were short ammo at worst. The newbies all just found out the hard way that buying a gun isn't as easy as buying a book like their god told them. What you mean I can't buy it on the Internet and have it sent directly to my house? Are you sure? My State Senator says you can and it's some kind of loophole we need to close. I have Amazon Prime. will that help? What do you mean the background check isn't back and I have to wait? It's been three days and you don't HAVE to complete the transfer? Really, if you do you can be held liable later on? Isn't there some sort of loophole so I can get my gun?
Other than it being a gun grab... My issue is that it is in violation of the ADA... many of the limits referenced in "assault gun" descriptions are necessary for many with handicaps to enjoy the sport of shooting... ie pistol grips modified fore arms, etc...
And the age required to get a drivers license, enter into a contractual agreement, get married, watch an "R" rated movie... We have to protect society!
He didn't ignore it, he didn't know it and didn't want to learn it before going hog wild with a pencil. In the real world, that would be learning what his constituancy was thinking and doing.
Now if they enforced existing laws and passed limited provisions with sunset clause and actually was focused on putting criminals away and making people safer I would be for it. Make no mistake this is a gun grab, plain and simple. Looks like the only people this will really protection are the criminals.
of course... give the criminals free rein and claim you need even greater power to stop them... never mind that you created the situation... many people wont remember what you did... and wont realize you had the power to prevent it all along... and you are in dereliction of your duties to them... and some will think you were just being a nice person to the poor misguided criminals... so win win kinda thing... UNLESS they actually stop and think it through... and vote accordingly that is...
