When the Soviet Union collapsed, Russia emerged and evolved into what we see today. Has anyone noticed the parallels between the collapse of the Soviet Union and what is happening in North America today? Our dollar is falling like a rock, States rights are shot to hell, our police forces have been federalized and militarized, we are being watched from buildings, traffic lights, drones, planes, sidewalks, satellites. Our phone calls are monitored, our internet is watched, hunted, in fact with predatory robots looking for data that will attach our names to various subversive lists. We have accepted torture of our enemies as acceptable as long as it keeps us safe from "Terrorists". We have allowed anyone that disagrees, to be labeled as a domestic terrorist.
Have you ever been tased or zapped with a stun-gun? That is pain beyond belief and pain used to coerce is "TORTURE" any way you define it. Now we let our police decide when to torture our citizens and it's ok because it doesn't usually kill them (read less than lethal). Community approved torture as a means of controlling an individual, now that's humane. Why can't we use them daily on convicted felons as punishment? Hell, we can use them on people in airports that get pissed off at all the crap you got to go through to get on a plane? I think we we should start lining the 2, 085, 620 prisoners in our penal system up each morning for a little jolt; sort of some reconditioning for when they finally get out. Follow me here for a minute. We approve torture during the arrest of a person that is presumed innocent until proven guilty but we can't zap that ****er that shot Bernie while robbing his liqueur store?

Republican mantra is power should be held by the few not the many. What we see is just optimizations towards their goal.

Before I get flamed by anyone I do tend to almost agree. Too many stupid people out there that cannot see actions and buy the slick propeganda. Unfortunately they have exactly the same power as an educated, politicaly aware and active person. One stinking vote.

Hartage, Old buddy...I resigned the Republican Party ten years ago and have voted Libertarian ever since. My family still tries to uphold the GOP but it don't hold water with me. I am just about one shot away from being disappeared.
It is just my opinion, but I refuse to give up my vote even though I don't believe our vote is anything but a panacea anymore. I am to the point that I can only envision a total collapse before anything hopeful can emerge.

Interesting view SC. I've always said it's funny how we used to laugh at the comic "Yakov Smirnoff" in the 80's talking about how opressive the USSR was..... it's not so funny now, huh? He could tell the same jokes today about the US.

Hartage, yes that's the repub mantra...... but make no mistake, it's also the democrats mantra. They all want control.

That is why we have a republic not a democracy, the gov is supposed to protect individual rights against the many (ie. so 51% of us can't vote to give ghrit wildernessgals' homestead or property, (tax dollars) in a redistribution of wealth to those who "need it more" from those who just don't spend it "right"!!!). The mere idea turns my stomach. Each organized party has its crimes against the constitution to answer for.The congress is currently in a full democratic majority. I don't see any bills to restore the full constitution to its lawful supreme state from anybody except Dr Ron Paul... The country is pretty messed up rightnow. On that we can agree.[beer][beer]

    To ghrit and wildernessgal-

I'm still undecided as to my vote on that matter. The bidding starts at 1,000 rounds of 7.62x39. ;)

On the subject of our deteriorating rights, I don't see much difference between the parties. One side wants to taser us because we went into a mosque. The other side wants to taser us because we protested outside that same mosque. One side wants to take our guns so we can't shoot Bambi. The other side wants to take them so we can't hijack planes. Either way, we're left defenseless, and at the mercy of those who want to zap us.[micro]

Unfortunately it seems to be coming to that. Countries and governments seem to go through cycles. We seem to be in the stage just before total meltdown. Hopefully from the ashes we can rebuild before another power (china) swoops in and takes our land. Rome, British empire, soviet union, I guess we're next.

Unfortunately no dissent here..... I hate to do it but yes, we are pretty messed up. I personaly blame two things the most for this. 1. Too much civil liberties (yes you read that right) we have erroded personal responsibility to nothing. Common mentality seems to be every man for himself. I don't care if he is my brother/family/neighbor. I feel no obligation to help/stop him. 2. Loss of work ethic. The farms and farmers are gone and with them the work your butt off from dawn to dusk.

Yup, we are pretty messed up.

Yeah, rep or dem seems the only loyalty is to their own pocketbook. No such thing as the greater good anymore in government.

Personaly I think we should strip them of their civil liability immunity then hold the SOB's accountable where it hurts, their bank accounts. (all government workers)

but the primate comittee on goat rights passed a bill declaring all methods of goat milk production subject to siezure, redistribution and taxation to fund the NAIS Program...and Melbos' ammo bill. Now getting back to SC ??? I could see the US getting broken up into smaller countries. Think about how good that would be for Russia and China, to get rid of a super power.

I'll bring my own, thanks. Lower the drawbridge, I'll be looking to stand guard, not take over. (On the other hand, if taking over was in mind, it would not be a frontal assault, I'm to lazy to do it the hard way.)[beer]

I have a good friend in the Intelligence Dept who sends me emails every now and then when I write him of my concerns. In a recent email he stated " only a select few Americans know what is happening and know how to act. The truth that many do not want to see is that the U.S. is headed for another Revolutionary War and Civil War. Manufacturing jobs, automotive, construction are all going over to China and other parts of the world to create a "UNITED" pact so that all worlds become equal. What the government wants to avoid is a world war within their own boundaries and by giving the LE military equipment, the gov't feels they have the upper hand. How wrong they are and this will only come to an end when the people of the "United" States come together and overpower the wrong and bring true justice among the land of the free. War is a strong word, but it is only truth that the American people need to get use to. We are headed there and no new president, no new house of representatives can change this in a years time." I could go on, but since I'm new here, I don't wish to anger anyone by too much jaw jacking.

Finding the monkey cluster map at the bottom of the home page made me realize "we" have a decent sized educated/motivated cadre...And buckball I don't know if what you brought forward will come to pass but I am heartened by the size and span of our community.
Begging the melodramatic: This "band of brothers"...
    ( sisters too)....
This amazing communication medium "our" Internet cannot not survive martial law at least not in its present form. Alex has an article proclaiming the net has two years of capacity left ( great time for the architects to build in more controls?)

I didn't know there was a map until you wrote it...shows you how much I know about this forum. Judging by all the spots, I'd say the gov't has a snowball chance in hell of winning anything at the moment lol. I truly do not know myself what will happen in the future, but I can honestly say that I do feel SOMETHING will happen within our own borders in the next 10 years. I've been preparing for that moment for about 2 years now and I always expect the worst.
