    To test the water tightness of any storage container that will be buried, just fill the container with rocks, then completely submerge the container in water. For most of the cheaper stuff you will see the air bubbles escaping the container right away. If you do not witness any air bubbles, let the container sit for 24 hours. If the rocks are dry, then I would trust it to be buried.

    You can store a lot in a 4" piece of pvc pipe with a permanate end cap anda screw on cap. 4 " pvc pipe and its many type of fittings is sold in the plumbers supply of any big box home store.

    Your most important items should never be trusted in a cheap container that is by all accounts,"Made In China".

    This is good information to know as thought about doing something like this and was consider one of these. If I do this, I will use PVC pipe. Thanks!

    Depending on what you want to put in it, you MAY need a 6 inch or larger pipe. Your average AR15 won't fit. (Yes, someone proved it.)

    If the AR has a sighted and zeroed optic, you will have to use a 10” diameter pipe. If you remove the pistol grip, then you can get it in 8” diameter pipe.

    Yeah, I like these things. Perhaps there are several manufacturers? Mine seems rugged enough, even a rubber seal. Sure, it's not durable like the metal G.I. ammo cans, but it's great for holding spare mags and range ammo.

    Damn, dude! Well, at least it's nothing a little cleaning can't fix.

    Tried the Hyd.Peroxide route,Not much improvement,Then the tumbler route w/ crushed walnut shells,
    Still not all shiny and spiffy looking but clean enough to trade in at the bank,This would be after 1963 stuff !!!

    To add to the closure end of your PVC Pipe. Turn a groove in the top edge of another 4" piece of pipe, cut to fit the inside of the main pipe, set in place with PVC cement at the correct depth to contact the screw in plug, test this for accuracy. Fill the groove with Blue sealant, add grease to the threads tighten with a homemade wrench and bury the wrench at another site. Bury the main unit, covered by a non binding top piece in a vertical post hole, cover with a little bit of dirt, add an old rotted off post end, add more dirt and grass pug.
