Our two grape vines were loaded this year, so we've made/canned about 6 gallons of grape juice. About one bushel of grapes yields 45lbs of de-stemmed grapes, which crushes into 6gal. We store thousands of canning lids, but found a box of lids that got pushed way to the back of a drawer, thought ya'll might get a laugh out of it....check out that price....probably 30 years old. I think the store has been gone 20. Also on tap this past week was a large steer in the cooler. Quarters weighed well over 250lbs ea, but he had a LOT of fat on him that will go to trash. Got the front quarters worked up this past week, some chuck roasts, ribeye steaks and a lot of hamburger + about 100lbs of 'dog nuggets'.....trimmings I run thu a large hole plate on the grinder, then cook up/freeze for them.
Take all the fat and render it down, that's some good lard right there, and good colognes that can have many uses!
Never heard of anyone using beef fat for much of anything. We do render our pork fat into lard, and use it for cooking, but it makes a nice white fat.
I imagine if left open for long enough, it would turn to wine first, then vinegar. But we're canning it, so it stays as juice.

With all the s*** going on in this world and the media attention given to it, I really appreciate a touch of the real world now and then. Yessir, we feed with only 100% natural red meat and fats, plus Salmon and it's renderings mixed with egg in a sort of omlet for them every Friday!
We make all our own food for Birds /rabbits/dogs/ and US ! Pure grains and the only "Treats" are Ice cream !! thats bought
One of the other forums with a high ad count lists about 50 uses for tallow other than dog food. In old days it was a very valuable item and was not thrown away. 51 Ways to Use Tallow | Survival Sullivan If SHTF, we have to remember that the poor used to use tallow candles, rich used bee's wax, it was both cooking fat and used in making soap, and was used to keep leather supple. Chellovic would know better than I but I think there was a revolt in India over lubricated rifle bullets, they told the Hindi soldiers that it was beef tallow and the Muslim soldiers that it was lard. That touched all the bases, but in real life tallow was used to lubricate bullets.
I found something interesting with pepper bacon, I usually have an ant problem but they seem to hate pepper bacon grease. How bout that.
