anyone know the legality of these in ohio
i have did a lot of research and from what i can tell as long as they are modeled after the old pre-1800 versions and are muzzle loaders they do not qualify as handguns and their is no law against making them. at least not federally. i was just wondering if anyone new about ohio laws. i can not find them in the law

Lawriter - ORC - 2923.11 Weapons control definitions.

don't see anything like that being practical for anything short of a sieging militia group >>>

but a cannon barrel type IED set-up >>> most certainly

I'm a Confederate Civil War re-enactor, and in the Infantry! Artillery and calvary are nice to have around during a battle, but they are both best left to those that know what they are doing, and/or have a death-wish!

Think of the fall of phnom penh. A few thousand commie foot soldiers wouldn't have walked in there and marched people out of the city and into the fields for the khmer rouge if the city of a few million had say 100,000 mausers, engfields, stens, PPSh, break top revolvers, ect, generally obsolete small arms and say a thousand very obsolete "pirate" cannons and pickup truck mounted Lewis, maxim, sho machine guns.
They would have thought twice about that shit.
Communism seems to only be successful when the population is just about today disarmed.

Doesn't matter much if you're on the receiving end of things! I studied a claymore mine while I was taking ROTC in college, I still have the drawings and notes somewhere, easy to DIY and employ...lots easier than a cannon.

Yeah, but then Phnom Penh was under siege and dependent upon armed convoys coming up the Mekong River from Vietnam for ALL of their food, fuel, etc....the end result would have been the same!

Biden: you can't buy a cannon.

Pretty sad you can usually get better legal advice off the Internet than from the POTUS.

MC0626 Civil War Field Cannon Barrel - full scale

Full scale...and it's in stock Joe!

The buyer has to fill out a "cannon form" that basically says they won't do anything stupid that endangers themselves, their crew or anybody down range.

The only additional thing that Dad found helpful before firing cannons was a call to the gas company, since they always got calls about an explosion. This kept us on their good side. We do the same kind of courtesy call when firing machine guns to save the Sheriff a trip out to the range. They get the calls from worried old ladies and can simply tell them "Yes, Ma'am, we know all about it. Nothing to worry about."

I would think a backyard cannon for the 4th of july should be easy enough to fabricate.
I've seen 1 or 2 already, Mostly noise makers.
