    I’m right at #208 already which is the high-end my weight class. My hip/groin area feels about 90 percent healed as well. I’m on call through the 4th and the weekend so I’ll most likely be busy. My hike never happened (weather) but I did make it over to the North Cascades. What a great area. Lots of people and Subarus now but…

    Hope you'll have a nice 4th weekend and stay safe if you get called in to work! I'm glad that your injury is healing so well. Keep taking care of it.
    The weather has been really rainy and muddy of here. I'm glad that you're keeping track of the weather conditions.
    I thought that Subarus always ruled the PNW? Lol.

    This feels like a big deal... Yesterday I decided to cancel my monthly hula hooper online membership. It's been months since I've hula hooped and I haven't learned any new skills in years. It's not from a lack of content because she's an outstanding teacher and performer who is always adding new content. I was probably the most active member in the community and consistently uploaded recordings for the last 4 years. I'm happy to contribute, but I was one of the only people posting and it has started to feel like I'm silently being watched. I was also starting to feel scattered, pressure to "perform" and like I'm falling behind. Of course, all of this was probably just in my head. If I miss it I can always rejoin.

    I think that my focus and interests have just shifted through the years... I'm very thankful for the gifts I've gotten from this whole experience. I met one of my best friends who is a cardiologist and internal medicine doctor in Europe. She has been a great friend through the years. I also wrote a lot of articles and tutorials and this inspired me to write about prepping and survival. And that lead me to this forum.

    You guys have been solid and I'm so thankful that I found you. During the time that I've been a member of this forum, my whole life has completely transformed. I'm so much healthier and stronger now than I was when I wrote my first post here. I think I was 50 lbs. heavier back then with lots of impending health issues.

    Now I'm a lot more private and I'm focused on health, wellness, survival, gardening, and simply living well.

    Just wanted to say thank you!

    I can certainly say I'm grateful to see you posting here. (y)
    I'm not as active as I'd like to be, but I appreciate the people who contribute to this place in their own positive way.

    I just found out that my Dad passed away last night...
    Of course I feel very sad, but I also feel like celebrating that fact that he isn't suffering anymore. He was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 33 and has had end stage kidney failure for the last decade. Was on Dialysis for the last 7 years. He would've turned 70 in October.
    I feel like that was such a young age to pass.
    I'm so thankful for the time that I had with him. RIP Dad.

    My mom and sister always called him a man of few words. I knew that I could count on him when I needed him. It's hard to believe that the rock I grew up with is gone.

    And now I feel like the torch has been passed and I must continue on this journey of living a healthy lifestyle.

    This week I did 5/6 planned workouts. Luckily, the 6th workout is optional because these last two weeks have been like this where I require 2 recovery days. On Friday night, I was planting squash seeds in the dark and slipped a little. My knee was bothering me all day yesterday so I rested. Today it's feeling a little better and hopefully by tomorrow it will feel even better.

    I'm going to enjoy today's rest day. We made a pot of elk chili.

    Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

    I started reading AlaskaChick's post and was going to respond and then it hit me that my dad is gone too...
    I felt frozen and almost instant tears, but I gotta be strong.

    ,,,,prob tmi but. when i was a kid i meditated and did some yoga. step dad caught me doing the plow in bed and figured i was trying to suck myself. no convincing him other wise. sadly knowing you have psychosomatic blocks is not a cure for them. i need to work on that.

    Tmi is welcome here. Darn, it's hard to win. People don't always understand those yoga poses. Plough is no joke. It took me awhile to feel like I could breathe while doing that pose. It's good that you can talk about it.

    I'm the only one who swims as the main workout, especially underwater, almost every day ;)

    I also walk, hike and jog every week

    On Monday I did a full body workout, yesterday was leg day, and today is going to be another full body workout.

    It's the day with pull-ups and dips. I'm so happy because this week I started doing wide-grip overhand upper partial pull ups. Now I can do it with one hop from the ground for the first one rather than using a chair and a hop every time. I think that learning how to do pull ups is helping me with my grip strength and dexterity in both hands. It's exciting to feel this progress.

    Hope you are all having a great week! I better start my workout now.

    Hi there ;) Wishing you a good workout!
    Do you work out at a gym or at home? Do you use a lot of equipment?

    Yeah, swimming is a great workout and great breathing exercise, especially underwater,
    especially if the pool is big enough, or in saltwater. And you don't get hot. But it helps if the water is warm.

    My normal workout is swimming laps underwater for 1 hour a day, 6 days a week on average (heated pool helps);
    walking or hiking a few or several miles a few times a week if it's not too hot;
    jogging once or twice a week

    Do you have any lifetime fitness achievements?

    For me, a few times a year, swimming 4 miles along the beach in shallow water, taking a break halfway.
    Also swimming underwater up to 120 meters/yards without coming up for air.
    Helps a lot with jogging!

    In my late teens, early 20s, hiking ~24 miles at 7,500-10,000 ft elevation in early summer;
    also hiking ~24 miles from 500 to 7,500 ft and back in early summer
    (San Jacinto Mountains outside of Palm Springs, California)

    A few times a year I still hike up to 30mi in a day,
    that's my maximum so far, but at normal elevation. 15-20mi is more typical for the "long hike"
    (in the desert from Pinyon Pines to Cathedral City in the Palm Springs area)
    And at temperatures less than 95F/35C if it is dry heat, 86F/30C if it is humid
    Jogging only up to 6 miles before I get bored & tired. And I'm not a fast runner & don't like running very much.
