That seems to happen as we age. I remember when I could ride all the rides at the fair and have a great time with no issues. Then when I was probably thirty-five I went on one of those spinning drum rides with the kids. Never again. I don't even want to ride the Ferris Wheel now. Nope. It's so bad that I can make myself carsick driving in the mountains. That might be because I read those suggested speed limit signs for curves as a challenge. I always plan to stop for a nap after leaving Linville, N.C. to let the nausea pass.
So you've got a 2014 Corvette Stingray convertible and you need to gain access to the rear compartment with no power and no key. Simple enough. Pull the Right tail light bezel to gain access to the manual release cable. You could just cut it, strip back the housing and grab the cable with a pliers and pull. Trouble is, the cable, handle and latch have all been discontinued. The easy fix is to just grind away enough cable housing to pierce it. Then pry it open and grab the cable. A pull from the side will open the lid, and the cable and housing will still work as designed. Just seal up the access point with some sealer and it's like it never happened.
Good info to have if you're a 2014 Vette owner . But here's my question,, most tail light , headlight assemblies I've dealt with were all had the assembly stud nuts screwed on from inside the trunk, or under the hood . Is this a special fix they added for the '14 Vette ?? In Boot Camp ,, the DI's said there are no stupid questions,,, I truly disagree with that statement,, but if my question is a stupid one ,, lay it on me ,, I can take it ,,,
The tail lamp bezel attaches to the rear fascia. You can release it with a trim stick and pull it off. That leaves a gap about 3/4" all the way around the tail lamp. Plenty of room to fish the cable out, and it has plenty of slack.
i worked for a local truck company here,,,, there was a perfect impression of a semi tire in the ceiling. had to be 18 or 20' up. done it many times,,, in tire cages.
