Motivational Poster Thread (warning content)

I still laugh when I think of range control coming on the radio, with a serious deep professional voice, reminding us to maintain proper radio procedure at The Basic School. Poor guy probably had to stop laughing before he keyed the mic.

The previous radio exchange had gone something like this:

"Chow Chow 6, this is Romeo 7, how do you read?"

"Hey there, Romeo... I got your chow...Gotcha Lickin' Chickin."

That's what you get when you mix a bunch of grunts and air wingers in a Warrant Officer Basic Course.

 

My wife was standing in the kitchen, preparing our usual soft boiled eggs and toast for breakfast. She was wearing only the t-shirt that she normally slept in. As I walked in, almost awake, she turned to me and said softly, You’ve got to make love to me this very moment! My eyes lit up and I thought, I am either still dreaming or this is going to be my lucky day! Not wanting to lose the moment, I embraced her and then gave it my all, right there on the kitchen table. Afterwards she said, Thanks, and returned to the stove, Her T-shirt still around her neck. Happy, but a little puzzled, I asked, What was that all about? She explained,The egg timer’s broken.

My family is from the eastern part of NC.
Probably back around 2015-'19 ,,, I took my Mom down for a visit with her hometown,, and see a few folks that may have still been alive. She was in the dementia stage then ,, I was just trying to let her visit folks ,, and see places that she may have remembered before she entered full blown Dementia .
So ,, headed back home,, we passed thru Wilson ,, just as we always would traveling back and forth across the state.
Any way ,, this day ,, I took a different route around Wilson,, just to miss the stoplights. While making this bypass ,, I passed a BBQ joint that was open ,, this was a Sunday,, maybe around 1pm . So we stopped.
We pulled up ,, went inside ,, and it was a buffet type restaurant. This place was just 1 big open room ,, with nothing but picnic tables butted up to each other ,, with red and white checkered tablecloths on them . The food aisles were loaded with all the foods I was raised on ,, my Mom and grandparents cooked just like this restaurant did. They had chopped BBQ on the aisle ,, but they had wall that separated the dining room and the dining room. In the center of this wall ,, was a opening,,, and a pit where they had a whole hog spread out on the pit ,, and you just pulled off what you wanted.
This place cooked the hog just like my grandparents did ,, on an open pit.
Well ,, every since that day ,, I cannot remember what road that restaurant was on,, and I've since then ,, wondered where it was.
Well I've been wanting to get back down to the town my parents and grandparents lived down east there ,, and I was going to try and find that restaurant the next time i passed thru there . H Diggity ,,, this may be that place I've been thinking about. I'm going to save this advertisement,, and search it out when I head back out that way. Thanks for posting this Sir ,,,it may be a few months ,, but if it is ,, I'll let you know. If you get out that way ,, and go looking for it ,,, let me know what you find .

 

I just did a little Google search on this place ,, and I do believe it's the same place I was looking for .
In the pics ,, it looks like they've done a little updating on the ambience,,, didn't see any pics of a food bar . And the outside looks as tho it's had a face-lift as well.
Still worth checking out .

 

Food bar sounds like the big Kings barbeque in Kinston, but I've never been to Parker's. Might get up that way tomorrow depending on the weather.
