Any of y'all find a warm body to spend the apocalypse with?

I ain't married, and ain't got none kids. Not my excellent grammar. I am close with my family, but they live far and wide.
I find myself in what I'm guessing is a pretty common per-dicament. I wants me a gal to drag into mah cave to keep my aging bones warm on winter nights, have long discussions about the impending AI takeover with, and to share my passion for guns and politics of the Right wing variety.
Like those of you in the same pickle, one doesn't know where to start. I have served my time in the trenches of online dating services. No thank you. While wanting a gal with an IQ that can challenge my own, and a rapier wit to match my jocular genius, the lower part of my body keeps shouting "Big tits! Big ass!" in exemplary heathen style. While wanting a reader of books and lover of science and art, I find the ability to suck a golf ball through a garden hose indispensable in a woman. You get the picture.
So where to start...
I was perusing that Meetup.com site today and noted upcoming gatherings (that's right, I'm even willing to go out my front door and occupy space with other humans) for 2A enthusiasts or fellow Right-wingers. So that's something I might have to drag myself to.
Trouble is, at 61--to my amazement--the coeds just don't seem to notice me anymore. Damndest thing.

 

Finding someone worth a dam is tough. You are more likely to end up with someone who make life harder. I also keep my eyes open for someone who can pickup their end of the couch.

 

Sadly, your first point is too often true. And the older we get, the more well we know ourselves, the more we know what we don't want in another person, making it harder.
What you said about picking up their end of the couch...Yes, fitness, which I neglected to mention earlier, is a very big part of my life. For every reason--health, strength, mobility, attractiveness--fitness would have to be important to the woman I seek as well.
*sigh* Guess I'll start looking at sex robots...

Having been married, now a widower, of the mistakes I've made in my lifetime, I've learned my lesson.
Women (in general) will agree with everything you say, till after your married. After that everything becomes conditional.
Being friends is fine, I believe because the idea of making something more of the friendship is in the back off their mind. It's human nature. I often thought I'd get a doll to sleep with (something to hug at night) but the fact of the matter is it won't satisfy the loneliness and the reciprocation of conversation I have with living beings.
Living in a camper leaves little room for nonessentials.
I realize some of you may be thinking for sex, but having ED it's out of the question.
IF some one proved to be trustworthy I might make the compromise but in reality I have too little to offer to foster an illusion suited more for the young.
I have been offered to be part of a group, and it is tempting, but recently discovering I've got type 2 , that alone ends my hope to survive much past the initial collapse.
IMO people with serious health issues should not reproduce if they could.
Post some apocalyptic event, modern medicine won't be there to hold one's hand.

 

I have been single now for a few years. With the property settlement a year past I am the happiest I have been in well over a decade. I have NO plans on changing that. I have little room in my life now for compromise and as sad of a cliche as it is “relationships are about compromise”. It does not have to be huge or terrible but *I* am done with it, YMMV. I am not at all short on female company and I have people who are GREAT friends but like me none are interested in stuffing up a good thing. Also…..running your shopping cart into an attractive woman at the supermarket IS a good way to meet women !!

 

I have a number of female friends that are widowed or divorced in the mid-late 50s and beyond.
And I'm going to tell you. Most, and I'm talking like 90 percent of them that got back into the dating scene say that the men they meet are wanting to have sex ... and they themselves are like no ... I've moved beyond that.
So I'm betting that finding a warm body in our age group that still wants the romp in the hay is like lottery odds. Especially as we get older. Unless you got a big old stack of benjamins that you can keep showering on them. Then one night stands with the bar fly might be all we get unless we want to do tradsies to get them out of a jam.
If Mrs VT goes before me ... I'm going to just go fishing and hunting more often. Maybe drink more beers with friends around campfires and call it good. Training another one is like herding cats.

 

Dammit BigOnes ,,, what's ya want to mess up a good thing for ,,, you can come and go as you like ,, drink all you want ,, fart on the couch ,,, and you won't get no ass-chewin,,,,fish and hunt ,,, etc,,
I won't even bring one to my house anymore ,,, I've got a couple gals around that are available from time to time ,, but I go to their house ,, they don't come to mine ,, that's when they start getting bossy ,,, this is my castle ,,,my rules only ,, and no regrets .
But ,, every one has their hopes and dreams ,, it's not for me to tell you what to do ,,, I've spent my time in the trenches of failed relationships,,, and I've found ,,, it's just not worth the headaches ,, not that all women are bad ,,, I guess I've just been a little unlucky in the longterm relationships ,, and have just chosen the free flyer mode .

Met and married my wife over 50 years ago. If she logs out before me, I'm good. We have been Temple sealed, so I know she'll be waiting for me/I for her.

Don't know if I could handle living with anyone else.

 

Good points, one and all, and valuable perspectives.
I must say I am keeping my eye on the development of companion androids. On the physical side, they are becoming more like us all the time, with everything from warm bodies to lifelike skin, plus other functions that can make a man, uh, happy.
Also, though, there is the AI in their heads. Some of these have the ability to get to know you, and, since they are connected to the internet, you can converse with them on any subject you like.
I really believe that once this technology matures enough, companionship will turn out to be a bigger selling point for this man-made lifeform than sex itself.

 

No way I'd spend money on a robot/android/ai woman.

Mary or Brenda at the end of the bar. You know the ones .. they stop getting served at the VFW and head over to the FOE and keep going. They gonna need a ride home one of these nights.

And yes, my never married buddy knows both Mary and Brenda well. They are ok and also post-menopause. And they even talk to him on Friday night fish fry.

Got one hereabouts, She's an RN. Does infusion therapy up at the big hospital.
I don't know what all that it is she does but a lot of these folks are in rough shape. The end

 

My sister, who has suffered from everything from Crohn's Disease to, now, breast cancer, has often received infusions, of one thing or another. Nowadays, due to the cancer meds she is taking, she becomes very dehydrated and they give her infusions of, I guess, water. Previously she was receiving infusions of something that kept her from getting nutritionally depleted from the Crohn's.
