Wet towel is quickest and surest. Waste basket has a bit of oxygen to burn off. Works on lanterns. Fire extinguishers are a last resort. Messy and corrosive.

Coleman 502 dated 1/71

I saw this stove in a local shop for a reasonable price. Carried it and the Aladdin model 11 wick and mantle up to the proprietor, and he let me have the Aladdin parts.

Coleman 220E 8/61

Fired up on the small amount of old gasoline in the fount. Pump leather was good, mantles were intact.

Gas stains

Stuff in the fount smelled sweet, like ancient outboard motor gas. In liquid form it wouldn't even light. Once heated it fired right off.
