Hi Guys. not sure if this is the correct area for this. I wanted to share my video about gun culture in Japan that I filmed in Japan. It will make you happy you are an American.

Good video. That certainly answers some questions about firearm ownership in Japan. (y)

"Sore losers" immediately comes to mind.
A society built upon edged weapons is not going to accept a fundamental re-think, whereas the US was essentially founded on/with firearms.

Very strange small black bears being so aggressive. I don't understand it. Most black bears will run when they see a human or a bit of loud noise will move them along...unless of course their cubs are with them then you have to be careful. Since no hunting then I would bet this aggressiveness is due to over population of the bears and they become more and more aggressive about their territory and people are simply caught up in the mix but that is just a guess.

Anyway, @AgentPickle VERY nicely done video! Good quality on video and audio and it flowed nicely to include the narration, length felt right too! Nice work!

This is the dream of the gun control people, not only disarm the people, but convince them that guns are evil and you should not own one. And of course notify the authorities if you know of anyone who has an "illegal" evil gun. Here is the UN version of gun control in Africa. But in Rwanda they killed about 1,000,000 people in the Tutsi genocide while the UN peace keepers watched and nasty notes were sent to those doing the killing. Most were killed with knives and spears or beaten to death.
I hope we never give up our rights to own firearms to protect ourselves. The people who started our country and wrote the Constitution knew from personal experience that the government could not always be trusted to rule in your best interests. As for the enforcement of "rules" the man on the left is not using his face mask, nor his goggles. In our shop that would of at least gotten a reminder from the boss if not written up for a safety violation.

I'd bet people have been feeding them, taking selfies, generally falling into what I call the "Disneyfication of Nature". They see the bears as 'cute fuzzy teddybears'. They forget the 'wild' part of wildlife. The bears are simply doing what bears do, raiding for food. They have no fear of humans. The Japanese need to change that. o_O

it's not only an anti-gun mentality - it's a total anti-violence culture >>> God help those poor bastards if a Big Bad Wolf ever got loose among those sheeple - we think we have puzzy whipped liberals here - nothing compared to the whole bunch over there - surprised they can find enough balls to fill law enforcement & military .....

China had their eye on Japan - equaling the WW2 score card if nothing else >>> if they got away with a Taiwan attack - no US response - Korea would follow - Japan would become the new Taiwan until it fell .....

China has been set back decades in their calculated march on the World >>> history will probably show what a difference the last year has been in the balance of power - very likely it'll show that China just couldn't pull the trigger on Taiwan and that was their eventual dooming stroke .....

During my many tours on Okinawa in the 1980's and 90's the only gun I ever saw that didn't belong to the U.S. military was a scoped bolt action rifle on a professional hunter's shoulder in the sparsely populated North of the island.

Japan is an amazing country, and while they aren't pro gun when it comes to allowing its population to carry everywhere, there are certain licensed Japanese who cull the wildlife. Americans can be critical if they wish, but Japan doesn't import third world scabs and terrorists, so there's that.

Thank you so much! Even the birds in Japan are aggressive and don't fear humans. I theorize that this is due to Japans lack of a million hillbilly's with shotguns.

A guy I work with married a Japanese chick. Her family up north has a gun. A 410 shotgun. Sound like for them to have a single shot shotgun is like one of us having a class 7 FFL.

Ah, yes! That also could cause a misunderstanding from the bears. I never could understand idiots that do that kind of stuff. Plus, in the end, they have to put down the animal just because it was being a wild animal. Yet the human gets a pass for being an idiot.

    Zimmy Wait, I'm not ready!

I have a P-38 blank firing replica that was made for the post-war Japanese men that remained to be able to pretend machismo.

If interested, make an offer. I am downsizing.

Years ago, I toured Ireland and Scotland for two glorious weeks. In both countries the gun culture is almost non-existence when compared to the US of A. I remember asking our Irish tour guide John about gun ownership in Ireland. He told me no handguns, and very few rifles (no large game), but lots of shotguns. He said that gun ownership usually required that you own land or belong to a hunting club. He then asked me why Americans love and own so many guns. I told him that 400 years ago, we came to a wilderness that was large, and full of dangerous people and animals. That we hunted for food and had to protect ourselves cause any help was far off and a long time coming...and that things haven't changed much in 400 years. I also pointed out that in 1775, American Patriots armed with firearms rebelled against the British and won our freedom, while in 1798, Irish Rebels armed with pikes rebelled against the British and lost. Scotland has more rifles and shotguns (more hunting) but no handguns. Also, its SCOTLAND!
