Yeah, it is a cool idea but it has been around for a long time as a method to incorporate garbage recycled materials into homes for Earthships.

Cool idea, I wish my Dad had some of these in his old tin shed.

I wonder what the thermic implications in a cold weather zone would be in Winter ?

ditch witch I do stupid crap, so you don't have to

I put these in the chicken house a few years ago. Did great until winter, at which point they froze solid and split open. I redid them and left the lid off to allow for expansion and it worked ok.

Better not fill those bottle clear full with water if the outside winter Temps fall below 30F.... Or your going to have a few
Giant Popsicles sticking thru your roof.... ......YM and Latitude MV......

That was my thoughts on the subject Bruce - exploding popsicles and then several nice holes in the roof... talk about your rude awakening. Just like my pal getting too much fizz in his homemade brew !!! His wife was out of her mind mad !!

Yep, don't want to upset the Women Folk, by totally messing up their nests..... Good way to get banned to the Doghouse, for a stint...
This idea would be great for a southern environment, where temps, rarely get below 40F, but around my neighborhood, it is a disaster waiting to happen. (Explode, Leak, etc) Better to just add an LED, or CFL, to the room and call it good.

Using 2 glass bottles (empty) with bottoms taped together then lined in the wall will create a lighting effect; we see this idea implemented successfully in the earthships I linked earlier. You can get creative and use colored bottles, too.

Here's a direct link to the exact idea:

If you don't have a tile saw, you can make that cut with a scoring with a glass cutter, then trickle boiling water on the scoring. dip it in cool water. Then tap it. it should crack on the score line. (it one technique for turning wine bottles into beer mugs.)
