    At one time we looked into moving to South America, Costa Rica, Peru, As well as New Zealand... The immigration process sucks.Minimum of $2,500 a month income per person in some cases. Amazing, the double standard!
    Forget about overstaying your Visa in those countries as well, you may get shot without a trial.

    Ecuador is easy. 25k investment in real estate gets you a permanent visa. Their retirement visa is also much lower than $2500 but I don't remember how much. It is a frustrating process though. 3rd world bureaucracy.
