The 458 SOCOM 1895 GBL Lever Action, just when you thought you had seen everything in a lever action rifle, and thought you could not go more powerful than a 45-70 in a big bore, the bar has been reset! NEW!!! The 458 SOCOM 1895 GBL Lever Action rifle is now available in the 458 SOCOM, a cartridge originally only intended for the AR-15. The Bishop Ammunition and Firearms 458 SOCOM 1895 GBL Lever Action chambered in 458 SOCOM comes with all the foregoing plus additional features other manufacturers charge extra for and now joins our line up in 458 SOCOM with our 458 SOCOM Hunter Bolt Action and the AR458 SOCOM Rifle.

Bishop Ammunition and Firearms 458 SOCOM 1895 GBL Lever Action was designed specifically for the those situations where a AR-15 rifle is either not permitted for hunting, while riding the range hunting feral hogs, or for those that want something completely different. This rifle was the lever action which the "experts" insisted could not be made. Based on the Marlin 1895 GBL we start with a 45-70 rifle and debur and polish all moving parts. A upgraded trigger is installed, along with a match air gauged 16" barrel and muzzle brake in stainless steel. We have re-engineered Marlin bolt assembly to our specifications for 458 SOCOM only and install a once piece firing pin. Additional modifications are made to the action for timing and feed of the 458 SOCOM cartridge. This rifle is NOT available as a kit and the individual parts are NOT available as each rifle is hand made, hand fitted and custom tuned. The result is a butter smooth action, a approximately 3 pound trigger pull that brakes like glass and one of the finest lever action rifles avaiable for the money. All our rifles come with a locking tactical case at no extra charge and the XSight System sights are included as well.

The sight system used on the 458 SOCOM 1895 GBL is the XS Sight Systems. The XS Sight Systems 1895 sight system features a large light-gathering rear ghost ring and high-visibility front post sight for fast sight acquisition during day or low-light conditions. the rear ghost ring is fully adjustable for windage and elevation. The one-piece front sight has a easy-to-use .100" wide, white-line post and the rail accepts either Picatinny or Weaver-style mounts. The extra long design allows for scope mounting directly over the receiver, or forward over the barrel. This allows the use of intermediate eye relief optics or red-dot sights.

from what I've read the 458 SOCOM and 45-70 have equivalent factory loads up to 300 grains and after that the 45/70 has an advantage. Since the rifle we are talking about has a tubular magazine the 458 SOCOM is limited to round nose bullets the same as the 45-70 would have. I just don't see an advantage to a lever with a 458 SOCOM over what you can get for a fraction of the price. On an AR platform I get it.

 

Check out the Bullets from Bishop. The tips are soft and can be used in the Lever Gun.
AR Platform can be had for less than a grand and 11 rounds in the right mag.

 

I think I am quite adequately gunned with the Rossi Puma .454.

 

Always wanted a .454 revolver to go with my .41mag,.44 special,.44mag and .45 colt. revolvers. What length barrel would be best ? One of these days I will. How does the .454 compare with the .45-70 in the rifle ?
