The biggest advantage is the overall length of the cartridge case. The 9mm case is shorter, which could make the cylinder shorter and more concealable, also. Right off the top of my head, it would be about.4 to 1/2 " shorter. A five shot 9mm revolver will fit in same cylinder diameter, and a 40 or 41 caliber five shot would fit in a K frame size and be almost as concealable.
