A few from last week's trip bush.... Boar.. Same boar, crap pic but better idea of the size of him.. Boar... Sow... Three of four little ones smacked one after on the trott.. Buck.... Same place....but last month... Boar... Boar... Buck sheltering from the cold wind (as was I)... Black Fallow Does sheltering... Red Deer Hind...
Hogs get left where they drop, too many nasties, bugger all here eat them and certainly not me. Of the deer culls I brought home the best cuts from five of the seven or so I shot. One of the guys left with the better part of twelve. Sadly we can't taken home all we need to kill (deer) and we have to try and drop every hog we can. And yes I do all my own cutting and a good share of eating. We give away lots of meat as well.
Just spent another week away, probably spent more time reading in front of a fire than I did hunting but still managed to get out each day. Boar... Sow (a mate who makes knife sheaths here wanted some sow hide for inlays - hence the bare bits)... Knife sheath on top there has one of his hog hide inlays (just for interest sake)... One of a number of rabbits that kept me company around the hut all week (they were being hunted by a feral cat most nights)... And a mob of cattle they just mustered out of the high/back paddocks (pic taken from the verandah of the hut as I was soaking up some sun)...
Just finished up mounting the head from May last year. I was hunting out in the far west in September and they had cleared some new fire breaks so I took a few slices off a downed box tree to experiment with....
