A separation is coming in our country will it be peaceful? No. Will it take 15 years to arrive? Mo. Two questions asked in this article. A separation is coming in America. Will it be peaceful? No. Will it take 15 years to come as suggested? No. A Separation is Coming for Our Nation – Will it be Peaceful?
By rights, America needs to be separated into at least four to five separate countries. Each has very different customs, lifestyles, needs, etc. Our current "one size fits all" Federal government has been a miserable failure.
I welcome it. Furthermore, I hope it happens before I die. Having said this, I do not believe that both sides can live in North America in peace. I just don't think it possible... EDIT: While I like and would support @Seawolf1090 idea of breaking the country up into bite size portions...I think we would then be at risk from larger countries, such as Russia and China because overnight we would turn them into Super Powers. I truly wish Russia could be broken up into 3 regions...and the USA also. I think we would see more peace in the world - hopefully - because none would be strong enough to individually dictate to the rest of the world through their military or economic strength.
I respectfully disagree that smaller countries bring peace. I use Europe historically as my example. Most blood soaked ground around, all small countries. I do not know what brings peace but think it takes a deeper idea.
We did not attack Russia when they were down, hopefully they would extend us the same courtesy. I hope we will have a peaceful breakup similar to the soviet breakup of 1991. Though I worry because their collapse was mostly due to finances not ideology. I worry that the liberals will come to power and push the conservatives to do things they cannot reasonably accept and this will start a civil war.
I will echo to the above statement, after all How Big is Germany and Japan? Unification of the States and their Ratification of the Constitution was supposed to avoid this kind of conflict in the United States. The problem isn't the States, it is the adversarial Poolitical (misspelled with intent) climate that is at issue, and it is everywhere.
The left wants it all. If they are told they can't have it all they will go into a frenzy. I'm afraid it will take a good thumping of them to get them to tone things down and even than might not work. Now if a good thumping means utter destruction and banishment of the survivors, then maybe.
@Gator 45/70 "Liberals will not survive with-out conservatives saving them." Geez, I would lose so much sleep over that...LOL! @deMolay "I respectfully disagree that smaller countries bring peace. I use Europe historically as my example." And, a very good example! But, the problem there is most of those countries are just too small. The only reason they are still around is tradition, a long economical history, and large/powerful countries ensured their safety. Hell, a lot of them were create in the 20th century...probably too many. The USA has a population of ~330 million, almost equals Western Europe population of 397 million. Should we split the country down the middle our population would still be equal to ~2.5X the size of France with a geographic size of ~7.3X the size of France (computed using only 48 states but probably Alaska would probably side with the Right). My point is, even split we are still larger than most, a lot larger, with abundant natural resources. The risk, of course, is if the breakup makes the new state too small not because we would necessarily have to fear a Russia or China - especially since we'd be too small to stick our nose in international affairs where it might not belong plus we are a world away - but our Southern border neighbor does have cause to wish former portions of our country back. Anyway...it's just a thought... @BenP "We did not attack Russia when they were down" No, we did not... Mistake? I think so - well - not attack but fund anarchy, chaos. We blew a chance to break them apart. I will never realize why the CIA didn't kill Putin in the early years, fund revolts, do anything and everything to leave them in chaos and most certainly push Japan to regain Sakhalin by hook or crook (damn place is floating on oil!) among all the other oil/gas rich places. I know the Caucasus' would have revolted and once one domino falls to revolution... We should have never let them regain their feet. Idiots. Why? Why didn't we do it? I have my own idea but...that's neither here or there since we didn't do it. @apache235 "Now if a good thumping means utter destruction and banishment of the survivors..." And, think of all the job opportunities this creates to rebuild! Yippee! I'll start a construction company! LOL! Banishment...Interesting thought. Can't banish them North as doubt Canada would take them. I'm not sure about South as might get messy... Could send them to some island? What islands does the USA still hold that we could do without? Wonder if we could purchase Madagascar? Maybe we could just pay poor African countries to take them - probably the cheapest way to do it. LOL!
Aw, conservatives need 'liberal's if only to play tribal whack-a-mole with them...and feel some sense of smug self superiority over their 'progressive' tribal competitors.
Will this split guarantee us a wall ? And depending on how this split works out , and me and my friends get to keep our AO , the South don't want them . Just sayin' .
Maybe the Federal Government should task the SCOTUS to assess all federal laws which actually are contrary to the 10th amendment, and also the the text of the Constitution about the duties of the federal government and that all others are relegated to the States. In my opinion obviously the Federal Government has OVERREACHED their specific assigned duties completely for TOO LONG!
I do not see any successful split up of the USA without massive population relocating. The black-white, hispanic-non-hispanic, liberal-conservative, various religious groups, urban-rural, rich-poor, etc, are not concentrated in any one section of the country and many of us belong to more than group. If we do have any sort of civil war, I see endless governments rising and falling as they did in France in the past as no one group will dominate, but shifting coalitions will come and go. National motto may change to Chaos Rules, and no one sleeps very comfortable as they may well be in tomorrows losers.
Have nots wanting what haves....... have. There exists a reason "balkanization" is a verb. Can anyone really imagine a world with nancy, or dianne, or chuckie an executive? Would they try to prove socialism is a failure, again?
Even those three aren’t dumb enough to screw that up... all they have to do is, Do Nothing, and it will happen , Defacto...
Chel, you obviously don't know American liberals, they have cornered the market on "smug self superiority." We are all just deplorable commoners.
