Great site, they even had the Colt and Bushmaster at better prices than the local store..'course,when you have a monopoly, you can charge pretty much what you want to.I can buy one now,but it'll pretty much clean out my shtf fund so I won't spend the money till I get more saved.

    Rex_Lee I didn't "promise" anything.

Oh really?! I and so many others easily get 2MOA out of our minis. If you doubt this you should check out www.Perfectunion.com They have a great forum for mini owners and some get much better than 2 MOA.
Also your statement that 2 minis for one AR is a stretch - Not really a stretch at all. The majority of ARs cost over $1000.00, with 1200-1400 being very normal. I'd bet if you took a poll here on this BB you'd find that most have paid over a $1000 for their AR.

Quigley_Sharps - Your hit piece from wiki is for the most part irrelevant. It matters little what Bill Ruger did, he is dead. The company has a new philosophy and you can buy 20 and 30 round mags, AS MANY AS YOU WANT. (They even make a real bad ass AR in the SR556). ProMag also makes very good 20 and 30 rounders for the mini.
The part about Ruger customer service is flat out WRONG. Anyone who owns a Ruger gun knows that they have very good customer service. They stand by their products and are also very willing to talk to you on the phone about any issue or information. I know this first hand.

Yeah. Really. I have experience with both platforms and so has about everyone else on this forum that answered your claims. Yours may be an exception in the accuracy department. I already stated that the *new* minis may be more accurate than the old, but in general, as was stated by numerous people here, Minis have 4 MOA accuracy.

Clearly you are incapable of reading reading the links I provided. If you pay 1K for an AR, you just want to. You certainly don't have to. Most factory guns aren't 1K. If you build, you can build for about $600. I haven't priced a mini in awhile, but I seem to recall that they are really close to that, even at Wally World. Add to that the price of factory mags and decent optic mounts.... an AR is a better deal hands down. I will post the link for my $600 carbine for you one more time:

WIKI sucks , and so does the 14 accuracy I have owned enough of them over the years to say that.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" />
But the past corporate decision informational post is relevant, the rest of the sitting chairs are still there that hand a hand in it.
Hopefully they don’t revert back and I would want to know the company history if it were me before doing business with them.

Order a firing pin from ruger and post the packing slip then I will conceded your customer service statement , if you to notice I quoted that post, not my own, But I’m sure you understand the quoting of a post part and not take it as I am claiming the accuracy of it???

Anyone who is serious about prepping would also stock spare parts IE: Firing pin etc your 20.00 mag’s won’t do you no good if it won’t go bang.[aiw]
    <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[dunno]

They wrote a letter helping the last ban.[beat]

    I understand where a ban comes from,..,….(y)

Quigley, my spare firing pin is in the form of a duplicate rifle.
I take my preps very seriously and a firearm is a tool, a tool that should be very reliable.

I can stock up and/or get a replacement firing pin for my mini. It may not be factory but it works just the same.

I saw pictures of your arsenal that was lost, sorry about that. That would really suck. Did you have a spare firing pins and other parts for all those guns?

I am more than capable of reading your links. I never said I would pay 1000 for any rifle, but sooo many people do and the vast majority of them are buying ARs.

I'll kindly ask you to refrain from your ignorant and arrogant character assumptions about me. YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT ME. Perhaps you should strive to be more hospitable to new members.

I have one of the "new model" Mini-14's and I do enjoy shooting it. I don't get to go to the range nearly as often as I'd like... but when I do go, I can't really shoot it when the range is busy. Why? The spent brass flies out to my 4 o'clock about 10 yards. 30 feet... and that's AFTER I've changed the gas port to a much smaller diameter port (aftermarket). Out of the box it was launching brass 15 yards. Lost half of my brass in the weeds the first time I shot it.

It shoots and i've seen lots of mods to make it more accurate, but haven't felt the need (or maybe i'm just too busy?) to do them. The most interesting one would be the accu-strut you put on the barrel, but its a little pricey for something I could probably fashion with parts from Home Depot. :)

Diddy this above is the question asked by the OP.

Question #1 and innate problems :I suggested accuracy which you said was incorrect, I might be wrong, but was there any rifle record set by a mini 14? ever?

Question#2 Innate problems :I showed poor customer service, you said that was incorrect you said they are great I asked you to order a firing pin from them, you said you store whole rifles for spare parts, because that's all ruger sell.....

Question#3 If you've owned one would you buy another? :
I said no I have owned several and wouldn't buy another.
I prefer other platforms that are very close in purchase price to the mini14 that offer consistently better performance with no upgrades needed to make it shoot. after adding the add ons to a mini 14 to shoot MOA your over the cost of other platforms.
IMHO you mileage may very. and evidently it does for some.

I believe you are probably the one that needs a slice of humble pie.

More than one member here has stated an opinion completely opposite of yours on this subject, yet in your own little world....

If by hospitable, you mean calling an old member on this forum ignorant.....[beat]

I bought (3) 186 stainless series back in the 1980s.. I installed synthetic stocks and Choate flash suppressors/front sights

One was a 2-3 MOA rifle and it's my daily truck/home defense rifle to this day. I live and sometimes work in a rainforest, so stainless is really nice

The next was a minute of pie plate shotgun. Reliable but inaccurate. Must have had a bad barrel. It happens. I traded it, should have returned it to Ruger and made them eat it

The third is a 1 MOA rifle with iron sights. No joke.. I mounted a drilled and tapped scope and she has less than 400 rds through her, a safe queen

All these I use exclusively with SS109/M855 military steel core ammo

The mini has some advantages and some disadvantages vs an AR 15 but I have found mine to be more reliable than my ARs

    A few tips:

Use only quality mags.. Ruger, John Mason, Thermold, etc. The old Mitchell Arms mags were superb, but are no longer made

The front sight on the old models was horrible.. the new ones with wings are better (as are the newer heavy barrels) I installed the M14 style pinned on front sight, big improvement although I had to file them down a bit for the SS109s POI (They also improve accuracy by dampening barrel harmonics)

The clearance drill with a mini/M1A is a lot easier than with an AR as you have direct visual and tactile access to the chamber area. You also usually do not need to remove the mag, as you do on an AR15. Having said that I have never had a failure with a mini that was not caused by junk mags (USA, etc)

Install a synthetic stock, it will help accuracy and make your mini more weatherproof

Not aimed at anyone in particular, but in my 30 years of adult shooting time when someone claims their rifle is inaccurate, 9 out of 10 times it's the shooter. They often really hate it if you can take their gun and ammo and drop the group size greatly..

I shot on the rifle team in ROTC for several years back in the day, shot expert in basic and can shoot sub MOA with a good tactical bolt action, of which I have had several. I know which end of a gun the projectile comes out.

I am not claiming to be the best shot in anybodies county, but I didn't have to be, to see my 1950 Russian SKS outshoot my MINI-14. When a gun gets outshot by an SKS, it usually ain't saying much. But there's a mini-14 for you.

There's your mini 14. I have owned 3 new Chinese SKS rifles and I sold them all and still have two of my three minis. None of them were as accurate as those two minis
